The lyrics of Hoobastank and Vanessa Amorosi's song The Letter tell a heartbreaking story, one of a person who has discovered a letter revealing that their partner is cheating on them. The lyrics are full of raw emotions, from the sadness of the betrayal to the frustration that it is too late for them to try and work things out. The line "you're absolutely sure he doesn't know" suggests that the two of them have been meeting in secret, maybe even at the same time and place every time.
The chorus repeats the idea that it's too late to try and fix things because everything that needed to be said is all there in the letter that the betrayed person found. Love this video with Vanessa Amorosi. I would like to see more Hoobastank collaboration with her. The vocals are great and the guitar parts are amazing! I’ve enjoyed the music of Hoobastank for many years. What a great band!
