The original lineup was notable for having three guitars and no bass player, creating a distinctive, layered sound. Kimble Rendall left in 1982 before the release of their first single, Leilani, and went on to become a noted music video director. He was effectively replaced by bassist Clyde Bramley. Radalj was not happy with Rendall's departure or Faulkner's increasing influence, and left the band himself, to be replaced by one-time Fun Things guitarist Brad Shepherd. This line-up released the band's break-through first album, Stoneage Romeos, in 1984.
In 1998, the band officially split but reformed for occasional concerts in subsequent years. A full-fledged reunion came in 2004, when they released Mach Schau and began touring again. The band received another boost when Come Anytime (from 1989's Magnum Cum Louder) was used as the theme song to the Australian TV show Thank God You're Here.

Too Much Fun
Hoodoo Gurus Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
(I'm a match for any man)
Too much fun - might be for you
(I could if I wanted too)
Too much fun, now ain't you heard
(Fun ain't a four letter word)
Too much fun, can't be denied
(Drive a man to suicide)
Too much fun. Too Much fun.
Too much fun, honey, I can stand.
Too much fun - baby, not tonight.
(Two wrongs don't make a right)
Too much fun - hey, time is right.
(Too much fun: outta sight)
How much fun can you stand?
(Too much, too much fun)
The song "Too Much Fun" by the Hoodoo Gurus is an upbeat and satirical commentary on the concept of fun itself. The lyrics, coupled with the band's energetic rock sound, create a mischievously playful atmosphere that appears to exist solely for the enjoyment of the musicians and the listener.
The lyrics, "Too much fun, hey, I can stand, (I'm a match for any man) Too much fun - might be for you (I could if I wanted too)" suggests a sense of confidence and bravado in the face of carefree enjoyment. The singer is assuring himself that he's up to the challenge of indulging in too much fun, and he's even willing to let others in on the experience if they dare to join him. However, the lyrics quickly turn dark with lines like "Too much fun, can't be denied (Drive a man to suicide)" implying that while fun might seem harmless, it can also have deadly consequences.
The refrain, "Too much fun. Too much fun. Too much fun, honey, I can stand" is repeated frequently throughout the song, setting the tone for the overall message - that fun can be dangerous, but the singer is up for the challenge.
