Where the hell you're coming from
But I guess that I'll try
To figure something out
I know I'm breaking all the rules this time, Ohh
I know I'm breaking all the rules this time, Ohh
Do you want to have been running around?
And I guess that I'll try
Come on over and we'll sort something out
I know I'm breaking all the rules this time, Ohh
I know I'm breaking all the rules this time, Ohh
The song "Rules" by Hoops seems to be about a complicated romantic situation where the singer is struggling to understand where their love interest is coming from but is willing to try to figure it out. The repeated phrase "I know I'm breaking all the rules this time" suggests that their actions may not be socially acceptable or that they are taking a risk by pursuing this relationship. The lyrics also encourage the love interest to act on their feelings without hesitation, even if it means breaking some rules.
Despite the vague lyrics, the melody and songwriting are strong and carry the emotion of the song. The electric guitar riffs and the dreamy, laid-back instrumentation give the song a mellow, indie-rock vibe. The chorus is catchy and the repeated phrase "I know I'm breaking all the rules this time" is easy to sing along to, making it a memorable aspect of the song.
Overall, "Rules" is a song that captures the relatable feeling of uncertainty and risk-taking in romantic relationships. It encourages listeners to take a chance and possibly break some rules in order to pursue what they desire.

This is probably their best song to date. My favorite song in at least the last two years. Totally incredible. Can't wait for their next effort.

they found the perfect mix. sounds like they have a pretty liberal list of influences. they've set their bar high, but with room to grow in other areas. very strong band. dig it.
