(Badaboum) Hey ho, t′es tombé sur un salaud
(Patatras) Eh bas c'est surement celui de trop!
(Badaboum) Hey ho, t′es tombé sur un salop
(Patatras) Eh bas c'est surement celui de trop!

(Badaboum) Baby, don't you know?
You gotta suck it up and let him go
He calls you baby, but can′t you see?
You′re gonna wind up in a mess like me

No, you didn't understand
He′s an innocent man
Nothing to do when you see mr. Ben
He's under my thumb
No, you know that′s a lie
He won't be happy till he makes you cry

(Badaboum) Hey ho, t′es tombé sur un salaud
(Patatras) Eh bas c'est surement celui de trop!
(Badaboum) Hey ho, t'es tombé sur un salaud
(Patatras) Eh bas c′est surement celui de trop!

(Badaboum) Baby, don′t you know?
It really hurts to see you suffer so
He calls you baby, but can't you see?
You′re only living in a fantasy

No, you misunderstood
When I said he was good
I simply know he does me like you never could

When I'm under his thumb and he′s making me
Baby, there's a way you feel as best I go

(Badaboum) Hey ho, t′es tombé sur un salaud
(Patatras) Eh bas c'est surement celui de trop!
(Badaboum) Hey ho, t'es tombé sur un salaud
(Patatras) Eh bas c′est surement celui de trop!

Overall Meaning

The song "Badaboum" by Hooverphonic is a cautionary tale about falling for the wrong guy. The chorus, "Badaboum, hey ho, t'es tombé sur un salaud" (which roughly translates to "Boom, hey ho, you fell for a jerk"), warns the listener about the consequences of falling for someone who will ultimately hurt them. The lyrics suggest that the singer is speaking from experience, having been hurt herself by the same man the listener is currently involved with. She urges the listener to "suck it up and let him go" before they end up as "a mess like me."

The second verse reveals that the singer is jealous of the listener's relationship with this man, but she also recognizes that it's not a healthy one. She sings, "When I'm under his thumb and he's making me / Baby, there's a way you feel as best I go," implying that she is only maintaining her own relationship with the man out of a sense of self-preservation. The repetition of "Badaboum" throughout the song serves as a catchy and memorable warning to the listener.

Hooverphonic is like Doctor Who, sometimes he regenerates and we have a new style, but even with a new personality it sill is the Doctor. And also there are new companions over time, when they go we miss them and don't like the new one, but when we get to know her we don't want ever to see her leaver.
