Her first album, titled Who We Are, was released September 6, 2005. Her first on-screen national exposure was performing a song from the album on the September 9, 2005 edition of The Tonight Show with the song Sick Inside.
Prior to the release of her album, her song, Whatever Comes Our Way, was the theme to the The WB comedy Living With Fran, starring Fran Drescher. In the summer of 2005, she toured with Jesse McCartney, acting as his open act.
In November 2005, as part of the label's restructuring, Virgin made the decision to drop Partlow's contract. Hope's music remained on iTunes, and she appeared on such outlets as teen network The N to promote her album. In February 2007, Hope announced on her Myspace blog that she has given up waiting for a record label to sign her. Prior to that, she announced an upcoming acoustic album and a tour, which is set to start in April 2007. In April 2007, Hope announced, also on Myspace, that she had teamed up with guitarist Ryan Wilson to form a new duo act, Hope & Ryan. The new Myspace profile featured a demo by the two, titled "Try." Just three months later, Hope announced through a Myspace announcement that while seeking a female harmonist and musician to join her and Ryan, they found Sara Rachele and have now decided to become a trio, called The Love Willows. Since then, Sara has left the group. On April 24, 2008 The Love Willows announced on Myspace that they have officially been signed by Decca Records/Universal Music Group. Their first full-length album will be out later this year.
In 2007, The Cheetah Girls covered Hope's first single Who We Are on their album TCG.
Don't Go
Hope Partlow Lyrics

And I just don't know how to feel
He takes his foot of the gas
Cause we're moving to fast
But I'm the one straped in behind the wheel
And it's a longer ride
And I'm on an even kill
Till his foots on the brake
He remembers how he's not suppose to feel
And I say I believe this is killing me
Don't go, don't go, yeah
I say I believe this is killing me, don't go
And if the hardest fight
When all of my armor has pealed
My defenses are down
He retreats without a sound
From the silence his intentions are revealed
And I say I believe this is killing me
Don't go, don't go, yeah
I say I believe this is killing me, don't go
I just don't want you to go
Yeah, I say I believe this is killing me
And maybe I'm just holding onto something your not holding onto any longer
I wish that I could let it go and let my senses take control
So that we could finally end this war
And I say I believe this is killing me
Don't go, don't go, yeah
I say I believe this is killing me, don't go
I just don't want you to go
I believe this is killing me
Can't believe I should leave him be
I believe this is killing me
Don't go
The lyrics to Hope Partlow's "Don't Go" evoke a sense of uncertainty and vulnerability as the singer grapples with their emotions and the actions of their partner. The song starts with a slow and contemplative tone as the singer reflects on their feelings and how their partner is reacting to their relationship. The line "He takes his foot off the gas cause we're moving too fast" illustrates how the partner is hesitant to take their relationship to the next level, while the singer is eager to move forward. The line "But I'm the one strapped in behind the wheel" further emphasizes how the singer feels like they have more control and power in the situation, even though they are not necessarily in charge.
As the song progresses, the singer becomes more assertive in their plea for their partner to stay. The repetition of the phrase "I say I believe this is killing me" highlights how the singer is feeling a sense of desperation and pain as they struggle to keep their partner close. The line "From the silence his intentions are revealed" suggests that the partner is not communicating their feelings openly, causing frustration and confusion for the singer. However, the singer acknowledges that they may be holding onto something that their partner no longer desires or needs, and expresses a desire to let go and "finally end this war."
Overall, "Don't Go" is a heartfelt and emotional ballad that captures the complexities of a relationship in flux. The lyrics convey a sense of internal struggle and external friction as the singer tries to reconcile their own desires with those of their partner.
