Gonna miss you but my love has gone forever
I say I love you but your loving has gone forever
Gonna miss you but my love has gone forever
Girl I'm back in Spanish, ain't no trouble coming around
You promise you will never let me down
If you love me that much you will stick around
It's hard to tell that your love exist
But I know this one is for real
Girl I love you but your loving has gone forever
Forever
The lyrics to Horace Andy's "Girl I Love You" speak of the end of a relationship and the longing for a love that has gone forever. The singer is expressing his emotions towards his lost love, stating that he still loves her even though the love she once had for him is gone forever. He is also resigned to the fact that he will miss her, but his love will never return. The chorus repeats the serious and melancholic theme of the song, emphasizing the pain of losing a great love forever.
The second stanza speaks more specifically to the singer's relationship with the lost love. He is back in Spanish, suggesting that he may be in a different place geographically or emotionally from where he was when the relationship began. He is unsure that his love for her will be reciprocated, but he makes it clear that he is committed to giving her the time she needs to decide whether or not she will come back to him. There is a sense of hopefulness in the lyrics, but it is clear that there is a deep sadness and regret as well, which is further emphasized by the mournful tone of the music.
Overall, the song speaks to the deep pain of losing a love forever and the difficulty of moving on from that loss. The lyrics are filled with emotion and feeling, reflecting the rawness of heartbreak.
