The boys have wasted no time following up with their sophomore release Soaked (LP and cassette out June 2nd on OIM Records), introducing a more diverse and groovy approach to their shimmering dream-pop sound. The album was recorded at Skyline Studios in Oakland with producer Jeff Saltzman (Hot Fuss, Green Day) and mixed by Eric Broucek (The Drums, Cut Copy, DFA Records). Where dirty guitars and speedy garage rock anthems once held the reigns, Soaked brings forth a colorful array of tones and instrumentation over compositions filled with sweeping emotion, achieving a higher level of production value and pop sensibility. It is apparent how the band’s sound has grown while still retaining loyalty to their classic, melody-centric songwriting.
After tirelessly gigging up and down the west coast and opening for acts such as Alvvays, Daywave, Mild High Club & Surfer Blood, Hot Flash’s growing reputation for energetic live performances has brought audiences together from across Northern California to sing, dance, and have fun together. The group will embark on their first national tour with the release of the album this April. See the story unfold in a city near you.

Hot Flash Heat Wave Lyrics

He couldn't always open the blinds to lovely days that kept on passing him by
Then I heard him cry "I just wanna make it right"
I just wanna make it right
I just wanna make it right
I just wanna make it right
Oh I, I just wanna make it right
I know a girl who loved her guitar but couldn't play it when her classes got hard
Then I heard her sigh "I just wanna make it right"
I just wanna make it right
I just wanna make it right
I just wanna make it right
Oh I, I just wanna make it right
The lyrics of "Make It Right" by Hot Flash Heat Wave talk about the struggle of pursuing one's passion in life. The song starts with the narration of a boy who used to live in a shed and had to get a day job to clear his head. Despite his everyday struggles, he could see the beautiful days passing him by and felt disheartened that he could not enjoy them to the fullest. He then cries out that he just wants to make it right, which is the main theme of the song. He wants to accomplish his dreams and come out of his mundane life.
The next verse talks about a similar story of a girl who loved her guitar but was forced to choose another career path just because her classes got tough. People around her advised her to choose a job that could fetch her money instead of pursuing her passion. Her story is another reflection of the same theme - the struggle of chasing one's dreams. The common thread in both the stories is that they want to make it right. The song's message is that one should always strive to achieve their ambitions and get over the difficulties that come their way.
Overall, the song "Make It Right" by Hot Flash Heat Wave is a poignant reminder that life often throws challenges at us, and it tests our determination to achieve our dreams. However, we should never give up and always stay committed to what we want to achieve.
