The Song Formerly Known As Intro
Hot Mulligan Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

You′ve got a type
Pasty skin and dead inside
Oh and green eyes
Yeah ones that look just like mine

And you've got a motive
You pulled your hair back
Oh I noticed
You can relax

Oh I make you panic
Call me when I′m manic
But know that I'll never call you, back

I never should have came here in the first place
Thinking this might be the end of our days
Hedge your bets, get some rest
Get these feelings off your chest

You picked apart our conversations
But there's nothing beneath the surface
I′m an asshole, I deserve this
Keep it down, hope no one′s heard us

But I don't want to hurt like this
I never meant to hurt like this

Overall Meaning

In "The Song Formerly Known As Intro," Hot Mulligan sings about a toxic relationship and the regret that follows it. The opening lines describe the physical appearance of the singer's former partner, who had "pasty skin and dead inside" and "green eyes" that resembled the singer's. While the physical similarities may have been what attracted them to each other, their relationship was fraught with tension and panic.

The singer acknowledges that they were not blameless, as they made their partner panic and never returned their calls. However, they also recognize that they should never have entered this relationship, as it only brought them pain and regret. The closing lines convey the singer's wish to move on from the toxic relationship and alleviate their emotional burden.

Overall, "The Song Formerly Known As Intro" explores the aftermath of a relationship that brought more harm than good. The lyrics paint a vivid picture of the singer's regrets, but also suggest that they have learned from their mistakes and hope to move forward.

I'm 99% sure least half of these views were me lol

@Bird0fPrey

God damn that guitar outro is amazing. For the ending I would have let it fade with maybe one more chord instead of an abrupt ending. That soaring guitar outro needs a proper final lick at the end to seal up this album

@justsomething89

well, the way i think of it is like, ending it abruptly so you'll come back listening again and again

@c3kile

@@justsomething89 yea it leaves that sense of tension, a never ending loop of trying to to resolve tension that will never be resolved

@c3kile

Another theroy that I came up with is this song was supposed to be the intro, so I wonder if that cutoff was a leadoff into another song. Like the transition from Cherry Red to Watch What Happens Next on Waterparks FANDOM record or going from The End to Dead! on MCRs The Black Parade. Just a theory tho

@andrewholmes3116

i mean the name of it is The Song Formerly Known As Intro
