Although they share musical similarities with members' previous outfits, Hot Snakes have a sound that is much more primal than that of Pitchfork, Drive Like Jehu or even Rocket from the Crypt. Reis and Froberg were also heavily influenced by bands such as The Wipers, Suicide, and Michael Yonkers Band, and these influences gave Hot Snakes a distinctive sound that has been described by one critic as "hardcore garage punk." The band's recordings and merchandise were conducted in a DIY manner, with Froberg providing all of the artwork and Reis releasing the material via his Swami Records label.
Eric Gerald Froberg died in San Diego on June 30, 2023, at the age of 55, from an undiagnosed heart condition.

Carries me, and places
A skeleton of trust
Right beneath us
Bone by bone
Rock by rock
If you ask yourself patiently
Who is it
That never lets you down?
Who is it
That gave you back your crown?
The ornaments are
They're goin' around
And they're handin' it over, handin' it over
Who is it
That never lets you down?
Who is it
That gave you back your crown?
The ornaments are
They're goin' around
And they're handin' it over, handin' it over
We all have been to the still place [???]
We all have learned the lightness
I carry my pain on my right
But I carry my joy on my left
If you ask yourself patiently
Who is it , who is it , who is it ?
Who is it
That never lets you down?
Who is it
That gave you back your crown?
The ornaments are
They're goin around
And they're handin' it over, handin' it over
Who is it
That never lets you down?
Who is it
That gave you back your crown?
The ornaments are
They're goin around
And they're handin' it over, handin' it over, handin' it over
The lyrics of Hot Snakes's song "Kreative Kontrol" can be interpreted as being about finding a safe, trusting and reliable relationship/friendship. The opening lines, "His embrace a fortress/Carries me and places/A skeleton of trust/Right beneath us/Bone by bone/Rock by rock" suggests that whoever the singer is referring to provides a strong support system that they can rely on. The use of the metaphor of a fortress may also imply that this person protects the singer from harm or negativity in the outside world.
The repeated question, "Who is it/That never lets you down?/Who is it/That gave you back your crown?" shows that the singer is looking for someone who has unwavering loyalty and support, someone who has helped them regain their confidence and self-worth. The lyrics "The ornaments are/They're goin' around/And they're handin' it over, handin' it over" suggest that this person is almost passing on their gift of trust and support to others.
Overall, the song seems to be about the importance of finding someone who never lets you down and the positive effects that can have on your life.
