Hotel Books began in 2010. After the release of "Call Me Human," many demos were released online, which ultimately became "Everything We Could Have Done Differently." After extensive touring in the US and overseas, the band signed to InVogue Records, under which they released a double-packaged EP, "I'm Almost Happy Here, But I Never Feel At Home" as well as two full band records, "Run Wild, Young Beauty," and "Run Wild, Stay Alive," along with two albums in the "Equivalency" series and an experimental LP "I'll Leave the Light on Just in Case."
The band's InVogue Records debut, "I'm Almost Happy Here, But I Never Feel at Home" was released July 1, 2014, via InVogue Records. The album received mostly positive reviews, as well as earned the band their first Billboard chartings; No. 9 on Alternative New Artists and No. 20 on Heatseekers, for the album's debut week. Their next effort, "Run Wild, Young Beauty," was released on April 7, 2015, and spent three total weeks on the Billboard charts.
In 2016, Hotel Books released their second long-player "Run Wild, Stay Alive" to negative and mixed reviews. The album focused more on the rock elements and traditional song structure.
In October of 2017, Hotel Books released "Equivalency" via InVogue Records to critical acclaim.
Hotel Books has toured the United States, Europe, Asia, and Australia, playing with a variety of notable acts, including Defeater, Counterparts, and I Prevail.

I'm some sort of metal that only has purpose
When someone needs something.
People wouldn't chase after me if it wasn't for greed
If it wasn't for the purchasing of some sort of peace.
And my hopes and dreams are put on display for all to see
But under heat, they bend, they bleed.
Maybe you couldn't tell, this was once beautiful.
Covered in the charcoal colored remains of ashes
From the last time something burned me.
But baby, I can be something you need
So bend me in that fire until I fit a shape
That can offer you some sort of utility.
I can see you, but I can't touch you, I can touch you, but I can't feel you.
I can feel you, but I can't see you I used to, but then I went blind.
Mend me into a cup, so when you get too drunk, you will think of me
Or mend me into a ring, or some sort of jewelry
So I can hold some sort of diamond within me.
People won't notice me, but will see I possess something with beauty.
Make me into buckles for the shoes on your feet, so when you run away
From this broken down street, you can take me with you when you chase your dream.
Make me into a music box so when I am opened, People can feel enlightened.
Make me into a trophy, so someone can hold me high
As they boast to the sky that they don't need anything.
Make me into a medallion, a true sign of victory
Not as flashy as a trophy, so it possesses some dignity.
Make me into a locket that you can wear around your neck
So I can possess a picture of the man who made you feel the best
Or at least better than I ever did.
I can touch you, but I can't see you, I can see you, but I can't feel you.
I can feel you, but I can't touch you, I used to, but then you left my life.
You are not one to look for gold, or any sort of monetary value
And that's why I will always love you.
So don't make me into anything you might lose.
Please don't make me into another excuse.
Make me feel like me me so I can make you feel like you.
I can feel you, I can touch you, I can't see you.
Where have you gone?
I can feel you, but I can't see you, I can see you, but I can't touch you
I can touch you, but I can't feel you
All I can feel is that your love makes me feel alive.
Hotel Books’s song Run Wild, Young Beauty is about feeling as if one's worth is only defined by what others see and want from them. The first few lines express this sentiment when the singer says that they feel like a “gold being” that only has purpose when someone needs something. This could be interpreted as the singer feeling like they are only valuable because of what they can offer to others rather than their intrinsic worth. The singer also implies that they are constantly being chased after because of greed or the desire to possess them.
The chorus of the song talks about the desire to be transformed into something of beauty that can be cherished by someone else. The singer suggests that they could be made into a cup or ring that is used and worn by their loved one. They want to be a part of their partner's life and be present in their moments of joy and celebration. The bridge of the song reveals the singer's fear of being discarded, made into another “excuse” that might be lost. They want to be valued for who they are and not be defined by what they can give to others.
Overall, the song offers a poignant commentary on how society often measures our worth through materialistic or external means, rather than embracing our inherent value as human beings. It highlights the fear of feeling unnoticed, unloved, and ultimately disposable.
