Never Run Dry
Housefires Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Through confusion and barrenness
You are beautiful God
Even in my brokenness
Through this pain I will confess
You are always good
Deserts will bloom in the light of Your love
You never run dry
Never run dry
Never run dry
You're my source, never ending
You're my life, never lacking
The song "Never Run Dry" by Housefires is an ode to God's never-ending love and ability to sustain his followers even in the toughest of times. The lyrics start off by describing the wilderness, a place of confusion and barrenness, as beautiful because even there, God remains present, powerful, and steadfast. The author further acknowledges his own brokenness, admitting that it is through his pain that he can truly affirm that God is good, always.
The chorus is the heart of the song, where Housefires declares that God is a never-ending source of life, love, and nourishment. The metaphor of deserts blooming and valleys making room for the river of God emphasizes the idea that even the driest, most barren places can be transformed by God's love, ultimately serving as his fertile ground to bear fruit.
The overall message of "Never Run Dry" is one of hope and reassurance that no matter what life throws at us, God's love will never run out. It is a testament to the unending grace of God and His capacity to replenish and invigorate our souls.

Above all these, clothe yourselves with love, which binds everything together perfectly; and let the shalom which comes from the Messiah be your <3 βs decision-maker,
for this is why you were called to be part of a single Body.
And be thankful βLet the Word of the Messiah, in all its richness, live in you,
as you teach and counsel each other in all wisdom,
and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs
with gratitude to God in your <3 s.
That is, everything you do or say, do in the name of the Lord Yeshua,
giving thanks through him to God the Father.

Yesterday I bought seven CDs of this album to give away as gifts. Still praying about who will receive them, but the body will be blessed, darkness will be pushed back and the light will shine through a little more. Keep it up guys!

This song really speaks to me. "Even in my brokenness, through this pain I will confess you are, always good." It's one thing to worship God when we love our lives and everything is going amazing. It is another thing to worship him and give him our all when we are hurting immensely. We have an opportunity to worship him with a broken heart on this earth.
