Think It Over
Houston Cissy Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Think it over, think it over...

Some people say You've been messing around,
Wish You could hear what they say
I'm not too sure, But You're just not the same,
We got to find us a way

[Chorus:]
Think it over,
Before You do something to tear us apart
Think it over,
All this talk is breaking My heart
Think it over,
Before You go out and do it again,
Think it over,
Just get together before it all ends
Think it over, Think it over

In the beginning, we both really cared
That's something that You should know
Let's think about all the love that we shared,
You shouldn't let it all go, so

Think it over,
Before You do something to tear us apart
Think it over,
All this talk is breaking My heart
Think it over,
Before You go out and do it again,
Think it over,
Just get together before it all ends
Think it over, Think it over

Think, Think it over
Think it over,
Think, Think it over, over

Better think,
Better think of the things You've done to Me
Better think,
Better think before I set You free
Better think,
Better think before You do wrong again
Better think,
Better think before the evening ends

Think, Think it over
Think it over,
Think, Think it over

Better think, Better think
What it's like to be all alone
Better think, Better think
What it's like in an empty home
Better think, Better think
'Cause I'm willing to forgive and forget
Better think about the love
That You ain't gonna get

Think it over

Can't we forget about the love that we had.
And make it just like brand new

I'm not too proud to forgive and forget,
But baby, what about you?

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Houston Cissy's song "Think It Over" are about a relationship that is on the rocks. The singer is worried that their partner has been "messing around" and that people are talking about it. Although they are not sure if these rumors are true or not, they urge their partner to think about their actions before doing anything that could tear them apart. The chorus repeats this message for emphasis, reminding them to consider the love they once shared before letting it all end.

The verses mention the importance of the love that the couple shared in the beginning and urge the partner to remember it before it's too late. They also highlight the singer's willingness to forgive and forget, but wonder if their partner feels the same. The bridge of the song adds a touch of urgency, encouraging the partner to consider the consequences of their actions before it's too late.

Overall, "Think It Over" is a plea for communication and understanding in a relationship. It's a reminder to take a step back and think about the impact of one's actions before making a decision that could lead to regret.

While this song was playing on the radio one afternoon in 1978 , my Latin late grandmother said to me, it sounds like she's saying my last name Figaroa, I said no she's not saying Figaroa she's saying think it over. I think she was disappointed but from now on when ever I listen to this song, I'm gonna say Figaroa ! in memory of her. RIP Angela Figaroa. 🌷🌼🍀

Saw Cissy Houston in TAKING MY TURN in NYC. I went to see my friend, Victor Griffin the the show but Cissy Houston touched my heart. I am thinking of her today and today she is in my heart again and with her grand daughter...Bobbi Kristina. Sad beyond words at their loss. Love surrounds you both... Thank you for the music that will live on....xoxox
