Antarctica
Houston Davis Jones Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I can?t see no shelter
I can?t see no place to hide from the storm
Shoreline slowly rising
Dry land getting hard to find

There were these clues
Warnings written on the walls for us to find
Left behind by a people time forgot

What did they know?
How could they see what we were blind to
With all of our research and technology?

Now the time?s come to dance in this great ballet
To play our part in this play

The cosmic orchestra is nearing the coda
Let?s pray.

Overall Meaning

In Houston Davis Jones's song "Antarctica/The End of a Great Cycle," the lyrics describe a bleak picture of a world that is changing for the worse. The singer cannot seem to find shelter or a place to hide from the storm. As the shorelines continue to rise, dry land becomes harder and harder to find. The singer alludes to the fact that there were clues left behind by a people that time forgot in the form of warnings written on the walls. These discoveries raise the question of what they knew about our predicament that we were blind to, despite all the technological advancements and research that we have made.

In the next stanza, the artist speaks of a great ballet that is coming to an end. The cosmic orchestra is nearing its coda, and it is time to play our part in the play. The lyrics seem to imply that the end is inevitable, and all we can do is pray as we witness the culmination of this cycle. It is a sobering song that speaks to the current environmental crisis and our role in it.

All I'm saying (no hate to her or anyone btw), but she could possibly be a "lot lizard" (which means; a prostitute) and the term "lot lizard" is US slang and judging by the roads it does look American, possibly South West USA? As spanish is commonly spoken there, and because prostitution is illegal in the majority of the US of course she isn't going to admit that she's a "lot lizard", so of course she's going to say something else especially since she's distressed, right?

Also if she was picking up her kids from school then it's safe to assume that she's in walking distance to a school (so near a school zone), also most big trucks don't go near school zones or are banned altogether so it does seem suspicious that a truck driver wouldn't be paying attention near a school zone, right?

Also why are there only men around her? 84.3% of truckers are men so it makes sense that "lot lizards" would hang around truckers at truck stops, right?

Again, unless we are 100% sure that she isn't a "lot lizard" then as far as we know her being a lot lizard could be factually true. But without proper context and trusted sources then all we have to go off is that caption and the person who wrote that is probably the person who recorded it and as an eyewitness it's his word against ours.

But I do hope she makes a speedy recovery 🙏

People this was never a prostitute or lot lizard. This is being taken out of context … she was on the way to pick up her daughter from school. You could hear her screaming that in Spanish this was something else going on but unfortunately this is what people on the Internet do.

@@gg8264so? is it enought to assume bad things about her? Presumption of innocence is the the basic to judge someone else.

@@gg8264that mentality of assuming the worst in people is really telling of your negative mentality.
