They released a demo, "The Winter's Near", in 2001 and their full-length (and so far only) album, "...Beyond My Grey Wake", in 2003.
Dust (aka Marco Benevento, currently involved with The Foreshadowing) has said that a new How Like a Winter album is a possibility. However, the band members live in different towns which makes getting together for rehearsal/practice very difficult. Thus the band's status is currently not known.

How Like a Winter Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
If the Sky unleashes his fury
For He's betrayed
In your heart lays my sight
For all the things
I've searched and looked for
My end belongs to your beginning
My eyes will seek your hands forever
Oh thou, pale tulip of mine
"What man art thou that thus bescreen'd in night
So stumblest on my counsel?"
In Night I came to you
For There were born our kisses
And pleasures breathe so far from the Sun
Envious by the grace
That shines in light of yours
A sweet damnation fell on my breath
Since then I can't but look for you
Wearing a mask of Night
For There were born our dreams
My end belongs to your beginning
My death will follow your blossom
My eyes will haunt your life forever
Our fields will be forever
Visible to no one
That can't reach the light above us
So dim
I hold within my fever
Your Eyes as pure as water
Never I will chase Them in the Sun
'Cause Sun is only a vision
A strange kind of illusion
Night is the only mother we have
Wait is my own father
The song "Bescreen'd" by How Like A Winter is a poetic and deeply emotional portrayal of a lover who seeks refuge in the arms of their beloved. The lyrics beautifully convey the idea of the singer finding solace and comfort in the embrace of their loved one, especially during a tumultuous time when the sky unleashes its fury. The first stanza of the song highlights the loyalty and devotion of the singer towards their beloved and how they find clarity in the midst of chaos. The use of poetic language to describe the emotions of the singer makes this song a touching testament to the power of love and human connection.
The second stanza of the song is pure poetry, showcasing the depth and beauty of the singer's emotions. The lyrics are reminiscent of a Shakespearean sonnet, with the singer imagining themselves as a pale tulip, ready to follow their beloved into oblivion. The lines "My end belongs to your beginning/ My death will follow your blossom/ My eyes will seek your hands forever/ Oh thou, pale tulip of mine" clearly convey the idea that the singer is ready to surrender themselves completely to their beloved, almost like a sacrificial offering. The repeated phrases "my end belongs to your beginning" and "my death will follow your blossom" add to the melancholic beauty of the song.
The final stanza of the song talks about the future of the couple, where they are seemingly happy in their own world, away from the prying eyes of others. The lyrics, "Our fields will be forever/ Visible to no one/ That can't reach the light above us/ So dim" suggest that the couple is content in their own company and wishes to remain hidden from the world. The use of metaphorical language in the line "I hold within my fever/ Your eyes as pure as water" adds to the beauty of the song, making the listener imagine the purity and sanctity of the couple's relationship.
Overall, "Bescreen'd" by How Like A Winter is a hauntingly beautiful song that touches the heart and soul of the listener. The use of poetic language, metaphorical phrases, and the raw vulnerability of the singer's emotions make this song an unforgettable masterpiece.

This song is a masterpiece....the dueling of the guitars and violins throughout the track astounds me...most bands couldn't dream up one good song in there life time..and this one song has enough for multiple other songs to be made from the it...amazing.

The whole album is a masterpiece.

It's from the first line of a Shakespeare sonnet (number XCVII). They actually read the sonnet in a song titled "XCVII"

This was Marco Benevento's first band back in the day. After that, he's since been in The Foreshadowing and they've just released a new album earlier this year too! Still goth-doom, although not AS proggy and melodic as. Still great in its own way!
