How to Destroy Angels Lyrics

Is anybody, is anybody, is anybody
Listening?
The opening lines of "The Wake-Up" by How to Destroy Angels are a call for attention and validation. The repetition of "is anybody" emphasizes a feeling of isolation and a need for connection. The line "wait a minute" suggests a pause, a moment of reflection, as if the singer is questioning their own thoughts and wondering if they are being heard. This sense of unease and uncertainty is reinforced by the subtly dissonant and eerie electronic soundscape that accompanies the vocals.
The song continues with lyrics that suggest a struggle to stay present and engaged with the world. Lines like "I'm waking up to what is real" and "all the illusions disappear" hint at a sense of disillusionment or a desire to shed false beliefs and assumptions. The chorus brings back the repeated question, as if the singer is still searching for someone to hear them and help them make sense of their experience.
