Das möcht' ich haben und weiter keins
Vom Katalog aus dem Versandhaus
Möcht' ich das Mädchen von Seite 1
Ich will nicht dies
Ich will nicht das
Will keine Uhr, kein Opernglas
Und keine Nähmaschinen
Und keine Filzpantinen
Was soll mir alles das?
Oh yeah
Das schöne Mädchen von Seite 1
Das will ich haben und weiter keins
Vom Katalog aus dem Versandhaus
Möcht' ich das Mädchen von Seite 1
Oh, sie ist so sweet
Sie ist so kess
Drum schickt sie mir heut' per Express
Die von der ersten Seite
Die schickt mir bitte heute
Und schickt sie no no no
Nur nicht nach anderswo
Oh yeah
Das schöne Mädchen von Seite 1
Das möcht' ich haben und weiter keins
Vom Katalog aus dem Versandhaus
Möcht' ich das Mädchen von Seite 1
Yeah, das schöne Mädchen von Seite 1
Das will ich haben und weiter keins
Vom Katalog aus dem Versandhaus
Möcht' ich das Mädchen von Seite 1
Das schöne Mädchen von Seite 1
Das möcht' ich haben und weiter keins
Das Girl im Pulli mit roten Rosen
Das möcht' ich haben und weiter keins
Das schöne Mädchen von Seite 1, whoa yeah
The lyrics of Howard Carpendale's song Das Schöne Mädchen Von Seite 1 express the desire for a specific girl from a catalog, the one on page one. The singer makes it clear that they do not want any other items from the same catalog, such as curtains or sewing machines. They reiterate their desire for the girl from page one and request that she be sent to them via express delivery.
On a deeper level, the song may be interpreted as a commentary on the objectification of women and the commodification of desire. The girl on page one is reduced to a mere item in a catalog, something to be purchased and possessed. The singer disregards the fact that the girl is a sentient being with agency and desires of her own.
Overall, the lyrics highlight the dangers of reducing people to mere objects of desire and emphasize the importance of seeing others as individuals with their own unique qualities and value.
