Jackie and Wilson
Hozier Lyrics

So tired trying to see from behind the red in my eyes
No better version of me I could pretend to be tonight
So deep in the swirl with the most familiar swine
For reasons wretched and divine

She blows out of nowhere, roman candle of the wild
Laughing away through my feeble disguise
No other version of me I would rather to be tonight
Lord she found me just in time
'Cause with my mid-youth crisis all said and done
I need to be youthfully felt, 'cause God I never felt young

She's gonna save me call me baby run her hands through my hair
She'll know me crazy, soothe me daily, but yet she wouldn't care
We'll steal her Lexus, be detectives, ride round pickin' up clues
We'll name our children Jackie and Wilson, 'raise em on rhythm and blues

Lord it'd be great to find a place we could escape sometime
Me and my isis growing black irises in the sunshine
Every version of me dead and buried in the yard outside
Sit back and watch the world go by

Happy to lie back, watch it burn and rust
We tried to work, good God it wasn't for us

She's gonna save me, call me baby, run her hands through my hair
She'll know me crazy soothe me daily but yet she wouldn't care
We'll steal her Lexus, be detectives, ride round pickin' up clues
We'll name our children Jackie and Wilson, raise 'em on rhythm and Blues

Cut clean from the dream that night, let my mind reset
Looking up from the cigarette, she's already left
I start thinking of the art for what's left of me and our little vignette
For whatever pour soul is coming next

She's gonna save me, call me baby, run her hands through my hair
She'll know me crazy soothe me daily but yet she wouldn't care
We'll steal her Lexus, be detectives, ride around pickin' up clues
We'll name our children Jackie and Wilson, raise 'em on rhythm and Blues

HOZIER LYRICS
"Jackie And Wilson"

So tired trying to see from behind the red in my eyes,
No better version of me I could pretend to be tonight.
So deep in this swill with the most familiar of swine
For reasons wretched and divine.

She blows outta nowhere, roman candle of the wild
Laughing away through my feeble disguise
No other version of me I would rather be tonight.
And, Lord, she found me just in time

'Cause with my mid-youth crisis all said and done
I need to be youthfully felt 'cause, God, I never felt young

She's gonna save me,
Call me "baby"
Run her hands through my hair
She'll know me crazy,
Soothe me daily
Better yet she wouldn't care
We'll steal her Lexus,
Be detectives,
Ride 'round picking up clues
We'll name our children
Jackie and Wilson,
Raise 'em on rhythm and blues.

Lord, it'd be great to find a place we could escape sometime
Me and my Isis growing black irises in the sunshine
Every version of me dead and buried in the yard outside.
Sit back and watch the world go by.

Happy to lie back watch it burn and rust
We tried the world, good God, it wasn't for us.

She's gonna save me,
Call me "baby"
Run her hands through my hair
She'll know me crazy,
Soothe me daily
Better yet she wouldn't care
We'll steal her Lexus,
Be detectives,
Ride 'round picking up clues
We'll name our children
Jackie and Wilson,
Raise 'em on rhythm and blues.

Cut clean from the dream at night let my mind reset
Looking up from a cigarette, and she's already left
I start digging up the yard for what's left of me and our little vignette
For whatever poor soul is coming next

She's gonna save me,
Call me "baby"
Run her hands through my hair
She'll know me crazy,
Soothe me daily
Better yet she wouldn't care
We'll steal her Lexus,
Be detectives,
Ride 'round picking up clues
We'll name our children
Jackie and Wilson,
Raise 'em on rhythm and blues.

Love his husky vocals and bluesy guitar licks:
"She's gonna save me, call me baby,
run her hands through my hair,
She'll know me crazy, soothe me daily,
actually she wouldn't care
We'll steal her Lexus, be detective's ride
around picking up clues
We'll name our children Jackie and
Wilson, raise 'em on rhythm and blues......"

"Me and my Isis growing black irises in the sunshine".  Isis the Egyptian goddess worshipped for being the ideal wife and mother.  This man knows his classic literature.

He's incredibly witty. His "Would That I" track is a beautifully executed play on words as he metaphorical speaks of wood/forests becoming engulfed in flames that is the passionate love that he finds himself embracing. In this context the "would" refers to all his past hopes and dreams he had for another woman and the "wood" itself is the memory of that woman fading away into ashes by the burning inferno that is new found love. Fucking beautiful. This song will definitely be playing at my wedding.

ALSO what I love about this line is that irises were depicted as the greek goddess Iris' symbol, and so greeks soon planted these in women's graves to symbolise a road through heaven through the rainbow, egyptians copied this, which leads us back again to egyptians.

@blueslove61 Irish superiority complex at play? You think all Irish know literature? This comment is so dumb.
