To Be Alone
Hozier Lyrics

Never feel too good in crowds,
With folks around
When they're playing
The anthems of rape culture loud,
Crude and proud
Creatures baying
All I've ever done is hide
From our times
When you're near me
Honey, when you kill the lights
And kiss my eyes
I feel like a person for a moment of my life

But you don't know what hell you put me through
To have someone kiss the skin that crawls from you
To feel your weight in arms I'd never use
It's the god that heroin prays to

It feels good, girl, it feels good
It feels good, girl, it feels good
It feels good, girl, it feels good
Oh to be alone with you

There are questions I can't ask
Now at last
The worst is over
See the way you hold yourself
Reel against
Your body's borders
I know that you hate this place
Not a trace
Of me would argue
Honey, we should run away
Oh someday
Our baby and her momma
And the damaged love she make

But I don't know what else that I would give
Than try to kiss the skin that crawls from you
Then feel your weight in arms I'd never use
It's the god that heroin prays to

It feels good, girl, it feels good
It feels good, girl, it feels good
It feels good, girl, it feels good
Oh to be alone with you

It feels good, girl, it feels good
It feels good, girl, it feels good
It feels good, girl, it feels good
Oh to be alone with you

+Tristan Neal Apparently you and I speak a different language.

Culture: the beliefs, customs, arts, etc., of a particular society, group, place, or time
: a particular society that has its own beliefs, ways of life, art, etc.
: a way of thinking, behaving, or working that exists in a place or organization
So maybe "rape culture" needs to have a systemic rephrasing. Society doesn't tend to ignore, tolerate and allow certain types of sexual harassment, or rape. The majority of American citizens abhor this type of behavior. By lending the word "culture" to an entire community is showing that you do live under a rock. I noticed that you have only assigned the receiver of this behavior to only a certain gender, except inmates. I am a male, and have been at the receiving end of rape and workplace sexual harrassment by females. Where are my vocal supporters? Because I am an attractive male and dress a certain way, it makes it okay for women to google and stare at my crotch. Get over it. It's human nature. Rape is also, part of human nature and the animal kingdom. However, society and culture tend to form the idea that these are wrong. Any civilized society would. Thank you true Christianity.
The college rapes that happen are often times treated in a certain way because of a certain phenomenon. Example: If a female has had intercourse with multiple partners in one night, then she is thought as a slut. If she had sex with one too many partners in a semester, then she gets the same label. When the conscious comes knocking, it is easier to accuse rape rather than poor choices. With social media it is harder to cover up these indiscretions. That is just one example of the "culture". Duke Lacrosse team.
Back to Christianity. What Christians TODAY are going on a raping spree during war, or not. The "Christians" that are posed in history as being rapists are Catholics. True Christianity has nothing to do with any group, or church. Why aren't you crying out about the adolescent, Christian Yaziti girls being raped on the daily...by the MUSLIMS! So is Germany at war? Is that why you are making excuses for the rapists. I get it. If your home country is at war and you enter a peaceful nation then rape is excepted.
I'm glad that you picked up on the prisoner cookie trail. I still can call you a hypocrite, because you are only defending an incarcerated group of males. Prison rape is a true definition of your ill perceived and systemically improper use of the term "Rape Culture". Rape culture is a legitimate term for prison life. You are correct in saying that pedophiles looked at as a scum and complete degenerates. Rapists and any sort of violent crime towards a female will land you in that special prison hierarchy.
Conversation about this subject is important, but there are other topics that are just as important without having to put a negative connotation, " Rape Culture", against a large majority of the US population. There is an awareness of rape and how horrible it is. I just don't think that its is healthy to exercise that term so loosely.
By the way. When you site the Huffington Post and Wikipedia,, you end up losing some credibility in your discussion. You also seem like you mean well, but there is an entire culture that means well and is being fed shovel loads lies and half-truths. Be informed, educated, and have a moderate dose of cynicism and you will be able to see through the lies.

@fireslayer402 Rape culture doesn't mean rape is rampant everywhere, it refers to any culture guilty of systemic victim blaming, sexual objectification, trivializing rape, denial of widespread rape, refusing to acknowledge the harm caused by some forms of sexual violence, or some combination of these. All of these things are pretty common in America, and you often hear prominent American politicians objectifying women, pretending as if rape is the victim's fault, or spouting some asinine "fact" that is completely incorrect about rape. Nearly 1 in 10 American women are assaulted every year. 1 in 5 college women and as many as 1 in 3 military women are assaulted.

So yes, it's a problem, but really it goes beyond just those stats. It's about the culture of how we treat rape. College rapes are covered up and dismissed by school staff to save the face and reputation of the school. Military officers use their power to cover up rape: 1/3 of victims indicated that their assaulter was a ranking officer's friend. Also, thanks for getting the Muslim remark, but I've got it covered. Rape always accompanies war. What we're seeing in the Middle East is wartime rape, not exclusive to Muslim culture. There are many historical instances of Christian civilizations doing the same thing and using Bible passages to support their actions, just like how Islamic extremists twist their religious text. It's not a "Christian" or a "Muslim" thing, it's just people being shitty when they get the opportunity.

Lastly, I find it ironic that you used prisons as an example. It is true that there is a stigma against child molesters among the prison community. However, rape is an epidemic in American prisons. Up to 20% of inmates are raped, and the numbers are extremely high for juveniles incarcerated with adults. The rape culture exists because we as a nation don't often have public discussions about this or any of the other rape problems that plague our country. We dismiss it or push it aside or just don't talk about it.

@jacob wood This is why he's strictly a pacifist now 😂

jacob wood

@Chrizelda Bernil I heard he has a lot of rubies. it'd be a shame if he lost them.

Chrizelda Bernil

@jacob wood I doubt it. I think he might be even more scared of angry men with big hammers. But only angry men, because it seems he's perfectly fine buddying it up with Thor. Or maybe scared of men who's girlfriends are in love with him 😂

jacob wood

@Chrizelda Bernil I wonder if Hozier is scared of rivers then?

Metal Butterfly Gaming

I can't deny that I've been drawn to him for a long time and that I feel some kind of connection with him too. I can't quite put my finger on it though on why that is.
