From a first single in 1979, the group successfully combined a pop rock and power pop (and sometimes, a blues rock) influenced backing with harmony side-vocals and Lewis' strident voice, and the band had numerous hit songs during the 1980s and early 1990s. These include "The Power of Love" and "Back in Time" (both of which were featured in the film "Back to the Future"), "I Want a New Drug", "Doin' It All (For My Baby)", "Do You Believe in Love?" "Hip to Be Square", "Stuck With You", and "Jacob's Ladder". Huey Lewis shared three Grammy awards, an American Music Award, and a People's Choice Award along with several artists for his role singing the 1985 charity song "We Are the World" as well.

Change Of Heart
Huey Lewis & The News Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I also know that nothing last forever
So now you want to go and change your mind
forget about the time we spent together
Do you think that I'll shoot myself,
when you tell me that it's over ?
you better think it over, baby.
Cause if you ever change your mind
I could have a change of heart the next time.
You really know just how to put me off
you say one thing and then you do another.
Now it takes more than that to get me off
you must think that you're a perfect lover.
Do you think that I'll fall apart,
when you tell me that you leavin' ?
You say you, had a change of heart
you better think it over, baby.
Cause if you ever change your mind
I could have a change of heart the next time.
Wonder what I'll do with all the time
when I'm not here, and I'm not on the telephone.
No more worry 'bout if you do and I'll
cause it won't matter anymore if I'm all alone.
Baby I got news for you
It isn't gonna kill me.
You say you, had a change of heart
you better think it over, baby.
Cause if you ever change your mind
I could have a change of heart the next time.
You say you, had a change of heart
you better think it over, baby.
Hey, (hey)
Better think it over
Think it over baby
The lyrics of the song "Change of Heart" by Huey Lewis & the News are about a relationship that ends because the woman changes her mind. The singer knows that nothing lasts forever and that it happens almost every time but that doesn't stop him from being hurt by the woman who forgets about the time they spent together. The woman seems like she's playing games and doesn't know what she wants, which frustrates the singer. He questions whether he will fall apart when she tells him that she's leaving and whether he will shoot himself when she says it's over. The singer tells her to think it over before making any decisions because he could have a change of heart next time.
The singer wonders what he will do with all the time he used to spend with her, but ultimately, he realizes that it won't matter because he won't have to worry about whether she's doing something behind his back anymore. He tells her that he's not going to be killed by her decision and that he could have a change of heart if she ever changes her mind. The song is about the ups and downs of relationships and the fear of being hurt by someone you love.
