From a first single in 1979, the group successfully combined a pop rock and power pop (and sometimes, a blues rock) influenced backing with harmony side-vocals and Lewis' strident voice, and the band had numerous hit songs during the 1980s and early 1990s. These include "The Power of Love" and "Back in Time" (both of which were featured in the film "Back to the Future"), "I Want a New Drug", "Doin' It All (For My Baby)", "Do You Believe in Love?" "Hip to Be Square", "Stuck With You", and "Jacob's Ladder". Huey Lewis shared three Grammy awards, an American Music Award, and a People's Choice Award along with several artists for his role singing the 1985 charity song "We Are the World" as well.

I'm Not in Love Yet
Huey Lewis & The News Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
And you may be the very best thing, I've ever had
But you want to know, 'cause you're making plans
Well, I'll make you a promise I'll keep, I'll do the best that I can
I'm not in love yet, but I'm workin' on it
It might take some time
It ain't easy to do if it's gonna be true
There you go again, tryin' to pin me down
Isn't it enough for me to say, I love having you around
And why do we always have to talk about the way that we feel
Baby, all the conversation in the world, won't make it more real
I'm not in love yet, but I'm workin' on it
It might take some time
It ain't easy to do if it's gonna be true
I'm not in love yet, oh, but I'm workin' on it
Yes, I am
I hear you say, you need some kind of proof
Well, it may not be what you want to hear but I'm telling you the truth
Ans why do we always have to wonder what the future will bring
And baby, all I know is how I feel now but time can changes everything
You been going
I'm not in love yet, but I'm workin' on it
It might take some time
It ain't easy to do if it's gonna be true
I'm not in love yet, oh, but I'm workin' on it, babe
It's gonna take some time
I'm not in love yet, oh but I'm workin' on it
It ain't easy to do if it's gonna be true
I'm not in love yet, oh but I'm workin' on it
The lyrics of the song "I'm Not in Love Yet" by Huey Lewis & The News seems to be about the early stages of a relationship, where one party is unsure about their feelings while the other is eager to define the relationship. The opening lines reveal a positive experience thus far in the relationship, but the singer has not reached the point of being in love yet. The singer promises to do the best they can to work on it.
Throughout the song, the singer acknowledges their partner's desire for clarity, yet they seem to be taking their time to develop their feelings. The singer questions why they always need to talk about how they feel and wonders if it can make the relationship more real. They also mention that the future is uncertain and that things can change with time. It seems like the singer is trying to figure out their emotions and is not ready to jump into love just yet.
Overall, the song captures the sentiment of a person who is taking their time to develop a deeper connection, but this is not to say that their feelings won't progress over time. It could be relatable to anyone who has been in a similar situation and highlights the idea that it's okay not to rush into anything.
