Wild Honey
Hugh Laurie and the Copper Bottom Band Lyrics

Wild honey, wild honey, wild honey
Makes me feel like twice the man I used to be
Wild honey, wild honey
Well it don't take but a crack
To drop on the kingdom
Don't take but a queen
I'm a jack of all trades, master of none
I am the one who's gonna get all the fun done
Wild honey, wild honey, wild honey
Wild honey, wild honey, wild honey
She loves you, she loves you, she loves you
I'll never love a girl
She loves you, she loves you, she loves you
Cut down in the wall, you really ought to see
That is the way, wild honey's supposed to be
Wild honey, wild honey, wild honey
Wild honey, wild honey, wild honey
Well it don't take but a crack
To drop on the kingdom
Don't take but a queen
To make that kingdom come
I'm a jack of all trades, master of none
I am the who's gonna get all the fun done
Wild honey, wild honey, wild honey
Wild honey, wild honey, wild honey
She loves you, she loves you, she loves you
I'll never love a girl
She loves you, she loves you, she loves you.
The song "Wild Honey" by Hugh Laurie and the Copper Bottom Band speaks to the euphoria that love can bring. The repeated mantra of "wild honey" emphasizes the intensity of emotion that the singer feels towards their beloved. The lyrics "makes me feel like twice the man I used to be" emphasize the transformative power of love. It's as if the singer has taken on a new identity, embodying a more empowered and confident version of themselves.
The imagery of a "kingdom" and a "queen" suggests a power dynamic between two people in a relationship. The singer acknowledges that it only takes one individual to completely dominate and control the other. Despite this, the singer seems more interested in enjoying the pleasures of love rather than asserting any kind of dominance or control. The lyrics "I'm a jack of all trades, master of none / I am the one who's gonna get all the fun done" suggest a carefree and pleasure-seeking attitude.
Overall, "Wild Honey" celebrates the transformative and empowering qualities of love. Despite the potential for power imbalances, the singer seems content to simply enjoy the fruits of their romantic labor.
