Witch Doctor
Hugh Masekela Lyrics

Stanley got a letter from King Leopoldo
Summoning Stanley, to his house in Brusselo.
Riding in a coach, from his house in Porta Bello
Sailing in boat, to see the king he did go.
Stanley, said the king, you're going down to the Congo
Where there's ivory, at the end of the rainbow.
I sent the doctor there, not so very long ago
Bring the ivory, and bring geography!
Bring the doctor back - he's lost in the Congo.
Witch Doctor? Which Doctor? Livingston, I Presume.

This was one of the greatest Lps ever recorded, and hard as hell to find today. Terrific South African jazz and great politics. Vasco da Gama one of my topfive all time favorite songs

Bought this album shortly after it came out. Bought it because I thought the titles sounded different than what I had been familiar w/ Hugh doing. Became instantly hooked. Still sounds fresh 35 years later.
