Bread & Butter
Hugo ОФЗвЎй Lyrics

She tastes like midnight
She tastes like wine
She tastes like midnight
She tastes like wine
Gonna run my fingers
Oh, down your spine
Just like a bad dream
Stay on my mind…

Gonna spread you like butter
Give ya all my bread
Don't want no other girl in my bed
Gonna spread you like
Gonna spread you like

Oh all the street lights
May know your name
Out in the moonlight
Don't you feel no shame
Oh don't you worry
You little flame
Baby all the street lights
Will know your name

Gonna spread you like butter
Give ya all my bread
Don't want no other girl in my bed
Gonna spread you like butter
Give ya all my bread
Don't want no other girl in my bed
Gonna spread you like
Gonna spread you like

Cause I'm feeling lucky
And I'm feeling you
It keeps me hungry
It keeps me mean
I'm sharp like a blade
And cold like a knife
I'm sharp like a blade
And cold like a knife
I'm cold like a knife
I'm cold like a knife

Gonna spread you like butter
Give ya all my bread
Don't want no other girl in my bed
Gonna spread you like butter
Give ya all my bread
Don't want no other girl in my bed

Gonna spread you like
Gonna spread you like

Overall Meaning

The song 'Bread & Butter' by Hugo ОФЗвЎй is a song about a man who is deeply attracted to a woman. The lyrics are lustful and describe how much the man yearns for the woman. The first verse describes the taste of the woman, using a simile to paint a picture of how desirable she is. The man is also excited to touch her, running his fingers down her spine. He compares the woman to a bad dream because she is always on his mind.

In the second verse, the man talks about how everyone knows the woman's name, perhaps indicating that she is popular or well-known in her community. He doesn't want her to feel shame or worry about her reputation because he thinks she is perfect just the way she is. The chorus repeats the desire to "spread" the woman like butter and give her all his "bread," meaning that he wants to share everything he has with her. He doesn't want any other woman in his bed except for her.

The final verse describes how the man is feeling lucky and the woman is making him feel hungry and mean. He is sharp like a blade and cold like a knife, which could mean that he is confident and unfeeling, but also ready to protect the woman he desires. Overall, the song is about passionate desire and the willingness to give everything up for the person you love.

When I get an earworm, I think of a song that's melodic, not repetitious.
For example, Chuck Berry's "You Never Can Tell"

"They bought a souped-up jitney, 'twas a cherry red '53
They drove it down to Orleans to celebrate the anniversary
It was there that Pierre was married to the lovely mademoiselle
"C'est la vie", say the old folks, it goes to show you never can tell."

Chuck wrote complex verses and lyrics. I listen to this when a song gets stuck in my head.

In 1964, my girfriend liked to sing and was good at it..she loved this song and danced to it in her parents living room while belting out the high part at the top of her lungs..I can't hear the song without thinking of her and smiling to myself ! R.I.P. Elsie !

As pleasant a song as this is I must warn any future readers of this comment: If you listen to this song too much you will be forced to listen to this song in your mind over and over again for days, utterly drowning out any other song you try to replace it with.
