Their debut album Ideas Above Our Station reached number 6 in the UK album chart, spawned several Top 40 singles and has since gone gold in the UK. The band went on to tour extensively throughout Europe and Japan. Despite selling 35,000 copies of their second album Shatterproof Is Not A Challenge they were dropped by Sony BMG in June 2004.
Hundred Reasons signed to V2 Records in September 2005. Their third album Kill Your Own - produced by guitarist Larry Hibbitt - was released on March 20, 2006 to critical acclaim and sold 30,000 copies.
On August 9, 2006 it was announced on the band's official website that guitarist and vocalist Paul Townsend would be leaving the band following their tour of Japan in early September. The departure is said to be "totally amicable", and Ben Doyle of The Lucky Nine has since joined the band as guitarist.
The band's fourth album, Quick the Word, Sharp the Action, was released on October 15, 2007. Less than a month after the album's release, V2 Records was bought by Universal, leaving the band, once again, without a label and the album was pulled from shops. Because of this, no further singles were released from the record.
Having been given the album by Universal, Quick the Word, Sharp the Action was re-released in Spring 2009. With the band touring to coincide with the release.
Gone Too Far
Hundred Reasons Lyrics

I'll do whatever I can to stop that
Three and a half years
Of emotional roller coaster's
Is enough to decide that some things
Are worth the effort spent
Finally it's a realization
That dawned on both of us andWith enough effort and knowledge
Of the past we don't need to follow
The path laid out by others
And it's gone too far
The words that guide us
Take your voice away
And I guess we can still chastise
Ourselves for taking too long to discover
What everybody else already knew
And all that was needed was the opening
Of the blinkered eyes long enough to
Register what was in front of us all along
I can't remember worse times
Than when we were apart
We won't stumble
Like we did before
The lyrics to the song "Gone Too Far" by Hundred Reasons explore the struggles of a long-term relationship that has been on an emotional rollercoaster for over three years. The singer of the song explains that they have finally come to the realization that some things are worth fighting for, and they don't need to follow the path laid out by others. They are determined to prevent the relationship from spiraling down and will do whatever it takes to prevent that from happening.
The chorus of the song, "And it's gone too far, the words that guide us take your voice away," highlights the challenges faced by the couple, and the loss of communication that results from these challenges. Despite this, they remain committed to each other and admit to chastising themselves for taking too long to discover what everyone else already knew.
The lyrics of this song suggest that the couple has experienced some tough moments and bad times when they were apart. However, they are determined to learn from their past mistakes and not stumble again. Ultimately, the track portrays a couple's persistent effort to hold on to their relationship against all odds.
