Inspired by artists such as The Band, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Bruce Springsteen Will & Jimmy started to write and perform as a duo. Jimmy took responsibility for lead guitar, mandolin and vocal whilst beside him Will not only played rhythm guitar but also kick drum and joint lead vocals. Will took a performance course at University, where he met Josh who was also pursuing the same degree.
Jimmy & Will had already decided they needed a third member to play bass and over a few drinks, and despite already being an accomplished guitarist, Josh decided to learn the bass. This completed the band lineup and in November 2012 the trio all moved to London to bring their own brand of power folk to the huddled masses. A mix of folk, country & rock, tight three part harmonies and explosive energy ensures an impressive live show.
Electric
Hunter & the Bear Lyrics

hands are dirty
did a crap thing
read your letters
got inside while you where out
searched your drawers,
opened closets
looked for skeletons
it's not much but it's a home
some privacy
some place to be alone
it's not much but it's your home
I violated
something holy
pass me that bowl of soap
toothpaste won't do
mouth's too dirty
toads jump out
I did some evil things
I told some lies about the findings
in your house
no, there's no electric chair
so if you find one put me there
it's not much but it's a home
some privacy
some place to be alone
it's not much but it's your home
I violated
something holy
The lyrics of Hunter & the Bear's song "Electric" narrate the story of an unknown protagonist who has done something regretful after violating the privacy of someone's home. The tone of the lyrics is filled with remorse and regret as the person expresses their guilt for their actions. The first stanza describes how the person has done something wrong and is looking for a way to clean their hands with soap. They had read the letters and looked around the home, trying to find something that would possibly justify their behavior. The line "it's not much, but it's a home" signifies the importance of having a place to call home and is an acknowledgment that what they have done is not acceptable under any circumstances.
As the song continues, the lyrics become more intense, describing how the singer has done some "evil things" and even lied about the findings in the house. The lines "it's not much, but it's your home, I violated something holy" are a profound reflection on the significance of privacy and private spaces. The singer is filled with remorse and wants to be punished for their actions by saying "no, there's no electric chair, so if you find one, put me there." The sorrowful tone of the lyrics and the singer's wish for punishment strike a chord with the listener, making them wonder about what the person has done.
Overall, the lyrics of "Electric" are heart-wrenching as they express the feelings of a person who has done something they cannot undo and is looking for a way to come to terms with their actions.
