After recording their first album, which featured the single Talking to a Stranger, the band traveled to Germany to record with famed producer Conny Plank. In 1984, the band reorganized, adding a three-piece horn section and losing the second guitarist. By 1986, the band's style was moving away from the sweat-drenched rhythmic jams of their early days to a more song-centered aproach centered on Seymour (whose younger brother Nick was a member of Crowded House). Throw Your Arms Around Me was a successful single in many countries.
The band was never able to match the worldwide attention they reached in 1986, though they continued to record with considerable success in Australia, and maintained a loyal fanbase elsewhere.
They broke up in 1998, but returned to play one concert on 14 March 2009 for "Sound Relief" at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, which was a multi-venue rock music concert in support of relief for the Victorian Bushfire Crisis.

Leave the past to me
Let it pass through me
Let it go, take it slow and just hold on to me
'Cause if there ever was a time for you and me
It's right now it's right here babe
Ain't it plain to see
Had I known that you'd be coming
Spending every single hour
Hoping to meet the one I'm dreaming of
If heaven sent me word that you'd be mine
Oh yeah
I'd closed my heart to keep the best inside
Whoa ooh whoohoo
Let it go take it slow and just hold to me
Leave the past to me
Let it pass through me
Let it go, take it slow and just hold on to me
'Cause if there ever was a time for you and me
It's right now it's right here babe
Ain't it plain to see
Let it go take it slow and just hold to me
Leave the past to me
Let it pass through me
Let it go, take it slow and just hold on to me
'Cause if there ever was a time for you and me
It's right now it's right here babe
Ain't it plain to see
Leave the past to me
Let it pass through me
Let it go, take it slow and just hold on to me
'Cause if there ever was a time for you and me
It's right now it's right here babe
Ain't it plain to see
In Hunters & Collectors's song Wishing Well, the lyrics seem to be addressing someone who has come back into the singer's life after a long absence. The singer urges the person to let go of any past hurts or regrets and to hold onto them instead. They express that if there was ever a time for the two of them to be together, it is now. The singer also mentions that if they had known the person was coming back, they would have waited for them, hoping to meet the one they are dreaming of.
Overall, the song seems to be about second chances and the desire to make things work with someone you may have lost before. It speaks to the idea of letting go of the past and focusing on the present moment. The refrain of "Let it go, take it slow and just hold on to me" emphasizes the importance of staying grounded and present in the relationship.
