When Olivier moves to Paris, the adventure seems to be ended. Not quite though, as Cyrille (the guitar player) and Frank (the drummer) also move to the capital town. They have the thrilling idea of making up a new group. They decide to find a new musical identity as well as a new bass guitarist, who must meet a special requirement: survive their vodka-liquorice-olives-anchovies after rehearsal drink. A man in a million (or maybe more). A friend of the group, Guillaume, brave and liking drinks providing there is vodka in the recipe, joins the HushPuppies, as they are now called, with Wilfried, already on keyboards with the Likyds.
That perfect team of five musicians develops an unique style, subtile combination of the dirtiest rock sound and the most atmospheric melodies.
Their live and stunning performances in Paris (La Scène, Glaz’art, le Nouveau Casino among others) attract an audience each time wider, although not used to such shows. Nevertheless the southern French accent of Perpignan spreads over Paris.
During summer 2003 the Hushpuppies have the opportunity to record in a studio where they polish their songs, gaining thus a new colour. Four pieces are recorded, revealing the talent of the Hushpuppies as well as their true personality. They prove to be as comfortable with both their garage rock and electro-psychedelic inclinations, as well as with both their native tongue and English.
In june 2004, Benjamin Diamond sign HushPuppies on his label Diamondtraxx, a new EP is recorded during the summer and is available now! With this new E.P. the group set up the basis of an unrestrained rock music, far from the French rock world clichés..."
The Trap is the first album of Hushpuppies, released in 2005.

Packt Up Like Sardines in a Crushtin Box
Hushpuppies Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
You never can tell.
You suck the blood of men , their life running through their veins.
You're preaching in vain.
You dry the faith I used to share with a million ones.
What about a dance?
You take the death for bride, you step on my pride, you come alone this guns in your arms!
I can't afford your hypocrisy!
You pay a lot of brains to give your life a meaning sense.
Hide behind the fence
You own the cure and make profits on everyone.
Cheating on everyone!
The lyrics of Hushpuppies's song Packt Up Like Sardines in a Crushtin Box critize the power dynamics of big corporations, pointing out the way they manipulate people's emotions and thoughts for their own benefit. The first verse suggests that these corporations are willing to do whatever it takes to sell their products, even if it means sucking the life out of their customers. The second verse accuses them of using their financial power to manipulate people into buying into their philosophies, regardless of whether they truly believe in them or not. The lyrics then encourage the listener to resist this manipulation and not buy into their false promises.
The song has a fast-paced, energetic melody that gives it an almost punk-rock feel. The lyrics are delivered in a straightforward, unapologetic style that conveys the sense of urgency and anger that the songwriter feels towards the subject matter. The chorus, "Get close to me! I can't afford your hypocrisy!" serves as a rallying cry for listeners to come together and resist these powerful forces that seek to control our lives. Overall, the song is a powerful statement about the need for individual freedom and resistance in a world that seeks to control and manipulate us at every turn.
