Although already one of the leading DJ lights in the new slightly left of centre world of dance music, Hyper really does seem to have taken on a life of its own over the last 6 months.
The process of recording 'We Control' lead to the formation of Hyper, the band. Joining Hyper (Guy Hatfield) and production partner Ronnie in collaborations on this record are Leeroy Thronhill (ex Prodigy), Wildchild (LA rapper), US Breakbeat superstars The Crystal Method, Jim Davies (Pitchshifter), Dirty Harry (infamous UK rock chick and Tommy Lee collaborator), MC Xander and Kieron Pepper.
Starting out based around samples and ideas from bands such as Killing Joke, Adam & The Ants and even Anti-Nowhere League, the album mutated naturally into a living breathing LIVE production.
In 2011, Hyper will release another full length artist album, titled 'The Panic'.
He began his active career under the name of Hyper in 1999 when he released Blaze It Up (12")

What do I see?
I'm looking straight through
It's so sad
When you're young
To be told
You're having fun
And do us all a favour
That music's lost its taste
So try another flavour
"antmusic"
Well I'm standing here what do I see?
A big nothing
Threatening me
It's so sad
When you're young
To be told
You're having fun
So unplug the jukebox
And do us all a favour
That music's lost its taste
So try another flavour
"antmusic"
Don't tread on an ant he's done nothing to you
There might come a day
When he's treading on you
Don't tread on an ant you'll end up black and blue
You cut off his head
Legs come looking for you
So unplug the jukebox
And do us all a favour
That music's lost its taste
So try another flavour
"antmusic"
The song "Ant Music" by Hyper seems to be a critique of the state of music in modern times. The lyrics suggest that people are mindlessly consuming music that lacks substance or meaning, evidenced by the line "That music's lost its taste". It suggests that society is more concerned with having fun and not really paying attention to the type of music that they consume.
The song also has a warning against treating others poorly with the lines "Don't tread on an ant he's done nothing to you / There might come a day / When he's treading on you / Don't tread on an ant you'll end up black and blue / You cut off his head / Legs come looking for you". This can be interpreted as a warning to people to be kind to others and not underestimate them, lest they face repercussions in the future.
In essence, "Ant Music" is a call to action for everyone to pay more attention to the type of music they consume and the impact it has on society. It encourages people to broaden their horizons and try new things, rather than just sticking to the same thing all the time.
