Lolita
I.A.M.X Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

My name is Lolita
And I'm, I'm not supposed to play with boys.
While tearing off, a game of golf,
I make a play for the caddy
But when I do, I don't follow through
'Cause my heart belongs to Daddy.

If I invite a boy some night to dine on my fine finned hatty
I just adore, he's asking for more,
But my heart belongs to Daddy,
So I simply couldn't be bad.
Yes, my heart belongs to Daddy da da da da da da da da!

While tearing off, a game of golf,
I make a play for the caddy
But when I do, I dont follow through
Choubidoubidou choubidoubidou ou Daddy.
If I invite a boy some night to cook up a fine enchilada,
The spanish rice is all very nice
Ba da ba da ba da ba da da Daddy.

Yes my heart belongs to Daddy,
'Cause my addy he treats it so!
Yes my heart belongs to Daddy
So I simply couldn't be bad
Yes my heart belongs to Daddy
Da da da da da da da da!

So I want to warn you Daddy
Though I know you're perfectly swell
That my heart belongs to my dday
'Cause Daddy, my Daddy

That little old man
He just treats us so good.

Overall Meaning

The song Lolita by I.A.M.X is a haunting and seductive interpretation of the titular character from Vladimir Nabokov's controversial novel. The lyrics capture the essence of the character's internal conflict as she struggles to reconcile her desires with societal expectations.

The first stanza sets the scene, with Lolita introducing herself and acknowledging that she is not supposed to play with boys. However, she is unable to resist the temptation to make a play for the caddy while playing golf. Despite this, she stops short because her heart belongs to Daddy. The repetition of the phrase "my heart belongs to Daddy" creates a sense of obsession and possession, hinting at the unhealthy relationship between Lolita and her stepfather.

The second stanza continues in the same vein, with Lolita pining for her Daddy while half-heartedly entertaining the advances of other men. The use of food as a metaphor for sexual desire is particularly powerful, as Lolita describes inviting a boy over for a meal but ultimately rejecting him because her heart belongs to Daddy. The final lines of the song serve as a warning to her Daddy that he may have competition for her affections, but ultimately her heart belongs to him.

Overall, the lyrics of Lolita capture the complex emotions and motivations of the book's protagonist in a way that is both alluring and unsettling.

So you came like a missile
Falling on my head
With a black sky
You think you're giving
But you're taking my life away

Then you came with your breezeblocks
Smashing up my face like a bus stop
You think you're giving
But you're taking my life away

Like the drunk you convinced was sober
You keep me falling over
You think you're giving
But you're taking my life away

With your best of intentions
You try to give an ocean directions
You think you're giving
But you're taking my life away

So you came like a missile
Leaving me the whole world in exile
You think you're giving
But you're taking my life away

Like the drunk you convinced was sober
You keep me falling over
You think you're getting
But you're taking my life away
You think you're giving
But you're taking my life away

Wow! These are really good! Chris Corner is a total Master Songwriter with a great voice to sing them. The fact his stuff can work acoustic or EDM or rock or probably any genre and style just shows how astoundingly strong they are at their music foundation. Plus, guitar arpeggios in President, which I like.

Hey! Do you happen to have the lolita remix version that chris uploaded it years ago? It vanished from the internet and nobody seems to remember it.

@jyssiquah555

I used to have it downloaded on my old computer and I miss it so much, one of my favourites!!
