Great info, and very well explained. I copy your idea of the jumpers from the November video and since then no more warranties with touch IC repairs.
Also your video on Gray WiFi have save me a couple of times.
But I have a question about touch problems, maybe you know the answer, I have a problem with a 6 plus, after I fix touch disease with M1 jumper I have the right side of the screen not working, you mostly notice the problem when try to type "q" or "a". I have try another screen, changing Meson, Cumulus and take readings in diode mode, everything seems normal, but after changing all, still the same problem. At this point I think one of the lines in the board is break internally or between layers, but because diode readings seem normal I'm not sure. In the past I have a similar case that I couldn't fix, so I'm thinking maybe this kind of issues are not that rare and someone has experienced too.
Any idea, answer or just a tip in the direction I should take will be greatly appreciated.

Awesome Video! Very informative...However, I think I found an issue with a 6 Plus with no touch that you said you haven't ran into yet and was hoping for a suggestion? At 16 Min into the video, you mention the 2 Caps above Cumulus (C8 Net)...
I have changed Meson 5 times (Literally!) and Cumulus twice... ran through everything I could find before coming by this video. I am not getting voltage on C2402 or C1541. I pulled Cumulus and do have continuity... Where is C8 getting the 5.1 from to further troubleshoot. Everything is working as far as I could tell without touch and have been stumped now for a couple weeks and customer is getting a bit "Impatient". It's become a personal thing now trying to figure it out...as I am fairly new to Microsoldering (6 Months)...I don't think I have made any mistakes here but not 100% Confident as this has me puzzled.

Disregard for now...I found it in Blackfish... Chestnut A1 provides the 5.1 to C8 on Cumulus. I just finished raping a donor board, removed it from the board I am working on, cleaned the pads and put in the replacement...Still no power on the Caps in C8 Net :(

Michael Hatch if you're only missing the 5.1 voltage then you have to assume that one of the components on that line is bad. Start with the capacitors. Use your diode mode measurement and compare with a known good board.

Microsoldering thank you...i did verify they were ok. i removed them and put them back as well. i just removed cumulus again thinking i may have overlooked something and still at a loss. im in front of it now just staring at it and trying to think it through. thank you for replying

Microsoldering I have done over 500 iPhone 6 Plus touch repair the past 2 years and when I don't jumper the M1 I still get grey bar when I twist the phone after new ic replacement, and when I jumper the M1 I don't get the grey bar even when I twist the phone and no complaint from customers, so I figured out it's the M1 problem most of the time apart from the oxidised pads that you see sometimes, also if you zoom on the M1 pad after you scrape the the line you will see a tiny crack at the end of the trace that connects to M1, also before I start Touch repair I take the black glue off with hot air 180c next the proximity component and camera ic and home button to prevent caps lifting, its the same thing for the modem chip when you get no service you have to jumper v1 and u1 after you take the chip off even if it's looking ok if you zoom in and drape the traces you will see the crack pad, then solder the modem chip back or you will have the same issue I have done many no service repair with this method with no issue all successfull, the more you do the more you will learn tricks and most of the micro soldering tech will know all this stuff, thanks for sharing you are doing a great job we need to grow the micro soldering community and share our experience and knowledge.

I have this 6P that came in with no touch, I got it to work but touch is missing on the right side of the screen, simply a vertical bar of no touch. Both cumulus and meson replaced twice, M1 jumper in perfect place and not shorted. Is it possible that it's a faulty chip batch I got? I checked all input and output lines on the connector and compared to a known good board, all read the same. I also made sure the screen itself isn't the issue. I'm starting to lose hope on this one :(
Any help?

Steve Miller I had a faulty batch of meson chips. I picked one from a doner reballed and installed and it was good to go. Also if you wick, give the chip a couple of nudges downwards to the pcb to make sure all balls are welded together. Careful of bridging too so you need to be super gentle on those nudges

Abdulrazaq Masrani I have an 6 Plus that I got with no touch functionality I replaced meson and the phone didn’t display any image on the screen, I removed meson and display came back up but no touch of course because I had no meson I have tried 3 meson IC I know they are good because I have tested them on another phone, but when I put meson on this phone I get no display, I get normal power drain from DC power and as soon as I remove meson it comes back up but no touch any ideas 💡?

Awefully upset about m1 jumper calm down.
You posted a photo 3 days Jan 14 after I made a post in the microsoldering forums Jan 11 about running m1 jumper on all touch ic pad missing or not.
but honestly who cares? If someone did it first or second as long as they shared it.
Everyone ran jumpers when the pad was missing the key was understanding it needed it even if the pad was there.

Also 5v1 Grape can be missing if Chestnut is damaged or the line is short which would equal no touch. Meson and Cumulus are both equally needed for touch function. Cumulus has different symptoms when faulty in some cases.

I dropped little nuggets in the Fb group hidden underneath other comments dating all the way back to November 5th. I'm just saying... 😬. Microsoldering there are posts back to August of 2016 from Larry Johnson talking about m1 jumper. Everyone knew if it was missing you didn't have touch. The ah ha moment was just figuring out you needed it always. Again me personally I've always said that I and others figured this out around end of 2016 and into 2017. Thus why I posted on the microsoldering private page on Jan 11th. Then shared it on the Into site when I started making videos on March 1st.
I don't try to figure things out for recognition, I do it to share info and I hope you do also.

I don't take any of it personally so no need to get torn up over it. Larry came up with the shield idea and he rarely gets credit but he also doesn't really care he was just trying to add to the community.

Keep on searching for answers and sharing. It's what I do daily.

Everyone knew about tearing m1 in the process of lifting meson but not everyone knew about running an "unnecessary jumper" to fix touch ic disease for good. I can confidently say that I was the first to figure that out. Can you say the same? I'm just saying... Like I said, I just want a little bit of credit. I'm all about sharing but when someone takes credit for something that I did, then that's a little sketchy.

I haven't used a metal shield since mid October. Results have been the same. The metal shield is stupid in my opinion, so whoever wants to take credit for it, be my guest.

Microsoldering I can say when I suggested it in my Post on Facebook Jan 11, I had seen no one say run M1 jumper regardless that is the fix. So in my mind I figured it hadn't been solved so I shared it after testing it and phones didn't return. But again why does it matter?

The shield may be useless. I personally don't think it's completely useless because bending is the root issue and this tries to address that issue.

It only matters when someone is taking credit for the enormous amount of time I spent figuring out the solution with no acknowledgement.

The shield is useless when the results don't justify the effort. Again, I have not used a shield since mid-october when I started doing these m1 jumpers and I have yet to see one return for no touch that wasn't the result of a bad chip or a secondary issue.

Lo primero ya que es el mayor culpable hacer un jumper en el pad M1 de Meson, ver si hay oxidación en algún contacto. Si luego de reemplazar Meson sigues si touch, medir voltajes en las lineas que el muestra, si no tienes los esquemas te sugiero descargar de vietmobile.vn, en ellos salen nombres de las lineas y valor de los componentes en ellas.
