Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Prophesied to us for eternity
Forever torment
That's what's in store for us
Until the day He came
Bridge:
For He's the Lord
Remover of sins
He died for us
Chorus:
My Redeemer, My Redeemer
My Redeemer, Come and save us
My Redeemer, My Redeemer
My Redeemer, Come and save us all
Conscript of Heaven
Joined the battle for the cause
Leading the armies
To crush the strongholds of the enemy
(repeat bridge and chorus)
(repeat chorus 2x)
The lyrics to I.D.0.4.'s song My Redeemer seem to be about the hope that Jesus Christ brings to those who believe in Him. The opening lines speak of fire and brimstone that have been prophesied as something that will befall humanity for eternity. This sounds like a reference to the punishment that awaits the wicked after death. The next line, "Forever torment, that's what's in store for us" suggests that we are all doomed to suffer this punishment unless something can be done to save us. That's where Jesus comes in. "Until the day He came," suggests that his arrival brought hope and salvation to humanity.
The bridge outlines some of the reasons why Jesus is seen as a savior figure. He is the Lord, the Son of God, and he is the remover of sins. He died for us, presumably by sacrificing himself on the cross to pay the price for our sins. The chorus repeatedly calls Jesus "My Redeemer," asking him to come and save us all. This suggests that the song is essentially a prayer to Jesus, asking him to intervene and save us from eternal damnation.
Overall, the lyrics to My Redeemer are a testament to the transformative power of belief in Jesus. They suggest that faith in Christ can give hope to those who feel lost or unworthy. The song calls on listeners to embrace Jesus as their savior, and it celebrates the idea that through him, our sins can be forgiven and our souls redeemed.
