IX
I.M.d.P. Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Like everybody has done it.
I hide from my unknown self.
So it is not my style.
But I' ll be away from the place.

合い言葉は 隙間だらけで 秘密の扉 開けられない
ためしに愛を語り いつも なぐさめられた
君の日々の中に ただ多すぎるものはない
だからつかんで 放さず

Like everybody has done it.
I hide from my unknown self.
So it is not my style.
But I' ll be away from the place.
Like everybody has done it.
I hide from my unknown self.
So it is not my style.
It' s me, think lots in a bed.
Like everybody has done it.

I hide from my unknown self.
So it is not my style.

Overall Meaning

In I.M.d.P.'s song IX, the rapper shares a personal story about the death of his friend Charlie. The song begins by describing a casual evening with friends, driving down a road that seems neverending. Suddenly, the rapper receives a text from a friend saying that Charlie has died. The shock and disbelief in his voice are palpable as he denies the reality and prays while driving to Charlie's house. Upon arrival, he sees only police officers and his mind goes blank.

The song then takes the listener back in time to when the rapper and Charlie first became friends. Their friendship began in fifth grade when Charlie's father was the rapper's coach. They bonded over humor and their love for football. Despite a tough upbringing, Charlie's father always gave him structure and guidance. The rapper describes the pain he feels at losing his brother and friend, as if he has been cut with a knife that should even puncture.

I.M.d.P. communicates his grief in a raw and emotional way, pulling the listener into his experience of loss. Through his storytelling, he also honors Charlie's memory and emphasizes the value of true friendship in the face of hardship.

Imagine how many people who watched certain number of films don't know IMDB exists.
Their taste could, but not necessary match this list.

Than, how many people are aware IMDB exists but don't bother to register and rate.

On the end, how many of them don't find it relevant.

I say, IMDB is voice of max 5% of people film related.
Not even close for qualifying to rate Best of All Time.

Plus, films are made in many countries other than U.S. production-which make 90% of this list.

Conclusion: not relevant due to insufficient number of people, who are located in small geographic area which can not be adressed as World.

Titanic not on the list really.

@jobrownflavour

It hasn’t changed, “Shawshank Redemption” is still comfortably sitting on top. It’s been leading at #1 for a while

@pri012

A little Overrated.
The good ending saved that film

@TodaysDante

It's an excellent film. But the best?

@RealistGunner

"Comfortably"

Gladiator should be number 1, you clearly haven't seen the GOAT of all movies.

@toohottyentertainment

Perfect story telling in my opinion. But then again. everyone's opinions are different.

@michastaneke2791

I've always found the difference between the IMDb top films and the Letterboxd top films interesting. With IMDb, the first foreign film comes in at number 21 with Seven Samurai. Within the Letterboxd top 21, there are 12 foreign films; 57% of the top 21 films on Letterboxd are foreign (more than half) compared IMDb's 4%.

@eb3ast

That’s one of the big reasons why I prefer Letterboxd, I think it’s way more accurate. Imdb is definitely for mainstream moviegoers, the only reason I use it anymore is for TV shows
