I decided to look up a few of my all-time favorites, and indeed, there was some funniness.

Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
Sex & Nudity:
- "Artistic nudity is used on a few occasions; the grand warrior statues in the Warp Rooms are unclothed, and their penises are clearly seen."
- "No actual depictions of full-on sexual themes."
Violence & Gore:
- "A considerable amount. Alucard wields a number of different medieval weapons to strike down monsters left and right. A long, long time ago, long before video game magazines were even a thing, before Playstation existed and while PC was trying very, very hard to become a contender for part of the video game market, my father wrote reviews for a local video game shop specifically to help parents figure out whether or not these games were suitable for their children. He'd play these games extensively and write as many notes on them as possible to really get into the nitty-gritty of what might impact a child's mental health in the future, what could make a game "too adult" for a kid, and even began to receive free software and games for this very purpose.

Meanwhile, he sat me down at three or four and taught me how to play DOOM because he knew I could handle it. Rather than potentially scarring me for life, all this has done is made me a more creative artist (with a side interest in practicing medicine).
Seriously, don't underestimate your children, folks! Not all of them are going to be tough as nails, no, and I'm well aware I'm a bizarre fringe case - but they're not all going to be absolutely fragile creatures made of porcelain, either.

I once wrote similar style reviews for a short-lived website that aimed to provide warnings for common phobias (and adjacent issues like jumpscares). 6:47 in all fairness, Splatoon 2’s Octo expansion is actually quite dark. Dark in a subtle way, until your character nearly gets pulverized in a giant blender. Then shit gets creepy real fast.

If you dig deep and find this game series’ lore, it is extremely dark. The fuzzy ooze in Splatoon 3 doesn’t just turn the character into mind-controlled soldiers, it also makes them lose all sense of self. And don’t get me started on Salmon Run’s Grillers having Salmonids in it literally being grilled alive as a form of sacrifice.

Here’s my “parents guide” for a video game! (It doesn’t actually exist, but this is probably what it would look like)

War is portrayed. Coffee is mentioned. Some characters have the lower half of their chest area shown, the majority of which are female. A drink resembling Alcohol is shown. Romance is portrayed. The main protagonist speaks in slang words. In the final mission, a character wished he had met the main protagonist before, both of them being the same gender, implying gay relations.

The game: Advance Wars: Dual Strike. If you’re wondering, the last part is widely exaggerated. It likely isn’t meant to be gay, but rather just a farewell. The game was made in like 2005 or something by Nintendo.

Violence is portrayed (mostly against monsters but a few times against humanoid creatures, in particular two witches) In the Poe Collector’s house, there are bottles of a liquid heavily implied to be alcohol. Scantily clad women inhabit one area, wearing only a cloth wrapped around their chest on their top half, pants, and a veil. Ghosts are shown, as well as undead. One of these women promises the child protagonist a favor, heavily implied to be sexual by later dialogue. One male character makes incredibly suggestive comments about the male teenage protagonist, implying that he is homosexually attracted to the protagonist. Blood is shown, typically green or blue blood but sometimes red. Enemies bleed when hit and there are two dungeons with some rooms covered in red bloodstains. and skeletons, as well as one enemy that appears to be covered in bloody sores and is overall horrifying. There is a boss that is a demon with chopped off floating hands. There is implied torture in one temple in the past. War is mentioned. The antagonist coughs up blood (red or green depending on the version.) Multiple goddesses are mentioned, which is against God. The protagonist employs sorcery. The deaths of multiple sentient characters occur, twice shown on screen. A scantily clad female boss winks at the protagonist, who is startled by this. Demons are fought as antagonists, which might be frightening for younger players. A woman dresses and masquerades as a man. Scantily clad fairies wearing only leaves often bless the protagonist. Bullying is portrayed, which might make younger players cry. You can harm chickens (though they do not die,) which is animal abuse.
The game?
Ocarina of Time, of course.
Honestly the stuff about the blood is reasonable, but most of the other stuff really is not, kids probably won’t catch on to the innuendos. The Shadow Temple and Dead Hand are just freaky as fuck tho so that’s also reasonable.

The truth of the matter is that your kid is going to be exposed to... less than desirable elements... at some point, regardless of your efforts to protect them. What matters is that you build a relationship with them such that you can guide and advise them through their exposure to them.

What happens too often is that children rebel against overprotective parents and delve deeply into such things out of adolescent spite, and then have no one to balance them out because they're hiding it from you, the ones who are supposed to support and help them.

Number 5 really got me.
On the bus to middle school, the bus driver very strictly only plays rap about drugs and sex, and if the program ends on the one station, he switches to one of his backup stations, which play the exact same songs. Over. And over. And over. At base, the Parents Guide for IMDB is a fairly useful idea, as it can give you a basic idea of what to expect from the movie/tv ahow your interested it. I think the main problem is that the contents of these Parents Guide pages are not checked for accuracy or really regulated at all so it just takes one dingus to completely remove any value from the guide.

If anyone checking the comments is still drawing some of the superheroes from the Omegle superheroes video: I just realized that bot name Matt came up with - angelsnuff68 - while talking to Snow Tree's creator, would be a genius superhero idea as well. Celestials such as angels would be able to respawn indefinitely, so they're perfect for fighting because it doesn't matter how often they get snuffed. Plus since they're the humanoid form of angel, their beauty is of the highest possible definition that is sexually attractive to humanoids. So they're both a great bait for any kind of villain, and extremely versatile for their lust-filled downtime.
Maybe an episode could revolve around the angel being briefly age-regressed and she meets a quiet boy who plays Doom.
