I been seeing colors lately truly y'all prism is showing
Shit get spooky hocus pocus them dollar signs got me focused
Y'all was leaving me down and dirty
Y'all ain't got me worried
Where y'all ass was at when I didn't have shit
Where y'all ass was at when buddy couldn't rob me
Where y'all ass was at when my funds burnt out
Fuck a friend this no harm to day 1s but lately I been peeping game
It's been strange thinking niggas have your back
Then some of them niggas get to switching lanes
Where yo ass was at when I in the gym
Y'all laughed at my struggles y'all picked like a Cotten field
I done got out that hole built up bricks by the tenfold
Better watch what you do and say Nigga you'll get exposed
Where y'all ass was at when I had the studio
At my door begging for free sessions like that's dope hoe
Where y'all was at when I had the whips
B.I.N.O slide take me here and there like damn yous a needy bitch
Where y'all ass was at when I down at lowest
I been seeing colors lately truly y'all prism is showing
Shit get spooky hocus pocus them dollar signs got me focused
Y'all was leaving me down and dirty
Y'all ain't got me worried
Where y'all ass was at when I didn't have shit
Where y'all ass was at when buddy couldn't rob me
Where y'all ass was at when my whip broke down
Where y'all ass was at when my funds burnt out
Y'all left a nigga dirty when he ran out of money
Shawty ran me dry said I was broke that shit was funny
Beating her back in way back in Haynes Garden
Oh shit ah goddamn I done got started
My closest homie switched on me
Tried to fuck my ex didn't know it
Beat his ass after she told me
Said he'd beat me nigga keep hoping
Larry was my dawg till did what he did
Devonte you a hoe I protected you for 10 years
It's a shame I'm not fucked up like use to be
Sparing everyone yawn y'all bored me
Y'all get high, cap and flex other peoples money
I been on the grind for a long time by my fucking lonely
The song "Why" by I.O.N features a confrontation between the singer and an unnamed adversary, in which the singer asserts his superiority and disavows any association with his opponent. The repeated refrain, "We don't get down like y'all," emphasizes the singer's rejection of his opponent's lifestyle, values, and appearance. The singer describes his crew as old school and experienced, while portraying his opponent as new, trendy, and inauthentic. He claims to have achieved success through hard work and ingenuity, while dismissing his opponent as a "sucka nigga" and a "pussy nigga."
The song can be interpreted as a commentary on hip-hop culture and the pressures to conform to certain norms and expectations. The singer's insistence on his own unique style and achievements can be seen as a call to authenticity and individuality. At the same time, the aggressive and confrontational tone of the lyrics can be seen as perpetuating a culture of violence and competition within the hip-hop community.
Overall, "Why" portrays a world in which success is measured by material possessions and a willingness to assert one's dominance over others. The song's repetitive refrain and aggressive lyrics create a sense of tension and conflict, emphasizing the singer's refusal to back down or compromise his values.
