IAMDYNAMITE Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I've been down in the desert callin'
Though I know I ain't no saint I promise you dear
We'll be together again
Stood by the grave of my dear friend
Then I went to the church and the preacher was there
You know that preacher said to me
We were standing there like a freight train coming and
We don't even care
We were swaying to the sound like a back door swinging and
We don't even care
Say what you will
My heart on the floor
Down, falling down
The lyrics of IAMDYNAMITE's Carolina seem to express a sentiment of missing someone and wanting to be reunited with them. The opening line of "Oh Carolina, where you been?" immediately indicates that the singer is searching for someone named Carolina. The following line, "I've been down in the desert callin'," conveys a sense of desperation and longing for the person in question. The singer goes on to admit that they are not perfect, stating, "Though I know I ain't no saint I promise you dear, We'll be together again." This implies that the relationship between the singer and Carolina may have had flaws, but they still long to be with them again.
The second verse of the song takes a darker turn with the mention of standing by the grave of a dear friend and a preacher warning the singer to be scared in "God's land." These lines could suggest that the singer has experienced loss and is grappling with their own mortality. However, this sense of foreboding is quickly overshadowed by the upbeat energy of the chorus. The refrain "We were standing there like a freight train coming and We don't even care" suggests a carefree attitude in the face of danger or uncertainty. The last two lines of the chorus, "We were swaying to the sound like a back door swinging and We don't even care," seem to emphasize this idea of giving into the moment and enjoying life. The final line of the chorus, "Say what you will My heart on the floor, Down, falling down," could be interpreted as a continuation of the theme of vulnerability and giving oneself over to the moment.

Every one of their songs seriously blows my mind. I thought The Black Keys were sick when I first heard them.. And as far as two piece bands these guys blow them out of the water.
