Voices
IT Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

It seems today, and it is so sad to say
People and their differences
Build up like brick walls

Whether color of skin
Or sexual preference of a human
One can only take so much
So I raise my voice in anger
And I raise my voice in disgust

[Chorus: x2]
It takes life for this to begin
We raise our voice, raise up and sing in
We raise in action
To bring change

Whether color of skin
Or sexual preference of a human
One can only take so much

So I raise my fist in anger
And I raise my fist in disgust

[Chorus: x2]

I'm not wasting my time
With bullshit and lies
You're talking too much
I'm not wasting my time on you

So I raise my voice
So I raise my voice
And I raise my fist
And I raise my fist

I'll see you
I'll see you

Overall Meaning

The song "Voices" by IT is a powerful anthem about the need for change when it comes to social issues. The lyrics speak to the frustration that people feel when faced with discrimination and prejudice of any kind. The opening lines express the sadness that comes with the realization that people are building up walls between themselves based on their differences, whether it's their skin color or their sexual preference. The singer acknowledges that people can only take so much before they are compelled to speak out and take action.

The chorus of the song, which is repeated twice, emphasizes the importance of raising one's voice and taking action in order to bring about change. The lyrics suggest that it takes a loss of life to spur people into action, but that it doesn't have to be that way. People can and should raise their voices in order to make their voices heard and bring about positive change.

The final lines of the song make it clear that the singer is not willing to waste time on people who are insincere or who are only interested in perpetuating lies and bullshit. Instead, the focus should be on taking action and making a real difference.

Overall, "Voices" is a powerful song that speaks to the need for social change and the importance of raising one's voice to make that change happen. It encourages listeners to take a stance against discrimination and prejudice and to work towards a more just and fair society.

The "We all flote down here! And if you come, you'll float too" was my absolute favorite scene of Pennywise in chapter 1, but then to my sadness, I noticed the scene has a flaw: penny was always holding the balloon and in the laugh take the Balloon is gone! 😭🎈
And there went away my perfect scene!

(Still gives me the creeps though) (still my favorite! Can't let it go....)

This pennywise's voice really makes the character. Friendly, something a kid would feel comfortable with, but a monstrous rasp too.

tommy salami

you calling that friendly even if I was 7 I wouldnt fall for that

Daniel Ponik

I think the voice is terrible and that’s my only complaint about the character lol.

Steampunk Emo

How in any way is his voice "friendly"

ChiselDeuce

He sounds kind of like Winnie the Pooh or Shaggy as a clown.

Bill Skarsgård did a tremendous job playing Pennywise! He’s everything a horror film should be! And that is... Pure. Fear.
