The group split up in April 2007 when Weinhofen joined United States band Bleeding Through and Peters joined Australian rap metal group Deez Nuts. I Killed the Prom Queen reformed to play a farewell tour in mid-2008 and released a live album and DVD, Sleepless Nights and City Lights, which peaked in the top 50. In May 2011, the band reformed for the Destroy Music Tour and indicated plans to work on a third studio album.

I Killed the Prom Queen Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
This city...
...
But they can't control us
Find my way, knew I could stay
Waking up with all my friends
Nothing is ever wrong your life
... I can't say
I can't
Don't trust me, the problem
Find my way, knew I could stay
Waking up with all my friends
Close my eyes, taking me with you
Nothing is ever wrong your life
What this is, this is just regret
...
Make decision of regret
Find my way, knew I could stay
Waking up with all my friends
The lyrics to "Sparrowhawk" by I Killed the Prom Queen are quite abstract and open to interpretation, but they seem to touch on themes of friendship, rebellion, and regret. The opening lines "Always waking up to one another, this city..." suggest a group of friends who have a strong bond and are united in a shared experience or cause. The next line, "But they can't control us," implies that they are actively defying some external authority or societal expectation.
The chorus, which repeats the lines "Find my way, knew I could stay, waking up with all my friends, close my eyes, taking me with you, nothing is ever wrong your life," seems to celebrate the power of friendship and the sense of belonging that comes with it. The line "nothing is ever wrong your life" suggests a feeling of invincibility, like their bond is strong enough to protect them from any negative consequences.
However, there's a hint of darkness in the later lines, "What this is, this is just regret...make decision of regret." This suggests that perhaps the group's rebellion is not without consequences, and that they may eventually come to regret their choices. The line "Don't trust me, the problem" also implies some deeper interpersonal issues or betrayals within the group.
Overall, the lyrics of "Sparrowhawk" paint a complex picture of the power and pitfalls of friendship and rebellion.
