Cyberpunk Gothic Vampire. Visiting the secluded walled village called Upon High, where only the 1% and their families could afford to live.

Balls are held every year, celebrating something so old nobody that knows what it is, only that they must hold it consistently. The Balls are held once in each mansion, making rounds in order, repeating again and again.

This time, the ball wasn't hosted by some Megacorp, the government, or old money... No, it was hosted by the people, by everyone, inside a sleek mansion that hasn't been used in over 50 years. Still, it was in tip-top shape, cleaned every day by hoards of drones scanning every imaginable surface.

A few days ago, it was filled with darkness and an opressive air. Now, it's filled with strobe lights, bassy music, and guests wearing the latest fashion and most advanced cyberware, and their provided masks.

The poor aren't invited, of course... not as guests, at least.

More than a mile below it all, in the seedy underbelly of the smog city, an unsuspecting gate opens. Black vans start to swarm inside like ants. Near sounless, except for the ocassional sound of banging on metal. The caravan goes on for minutes, like a river of black.

As the last van scurries inside, and as the gate closes soundlessly, an dark figure slips in.

Up above, even above the clouds, the party goes on. Servers start going in, handing out drinks and snacks, walking smoothly between even the dancing bodies. "It's fresh," the servers assure. Some guests take a flute, and sniff it. They smile their own unique smiles, and take a drink.

Suddenly, one of them looks distracted. One by one, they all turn. Some turn after seeing an enchanting glimpse of something, others turn because of curiousity, like a herd of meerkats. Some guests gasp, and others start gossiping.

A feminine figure walks through the crowd, whose mysterious beauty attracted all eyes in the room. Her walk was steady, her chin high, her dress flowing, and her lips changing color depending on who you ask. Her face was uncovered, and they all knew she was not a guest. And like a trick of the light, as soon as she appeared, she vanishes.

Nobody remembers her face.

The gossip does not stop. It only grows louder, and soon armored guards slowly trickle inside.

I think part of what makes this song so good is that you can kinda visualize a story as the song progresses, first he sees this girl and soon starts obsessing himself over her, then grows confident that she is obsessed with him 'i call her name across an endless plane, she'll answer me, wherever she may be'

I like to imagine the man lost his lover and under some form of memory loss (he has had his memories blocked by the bad guy), he doesn't remember what happened and feels something is missing, a deep sorrow he can't explain. But through her own will and power, she breaks through some crack in the memory loss barrier and throughout the whole song leads the man to where she is. And the man feels like he knows this shadow he's following but can't recall who she is. And only at the end, does he find her and remembers everything, and as the last line plays. She is in his arms, being carried to safety.

This song reminds me of derealization or a spiral into insanity, like you can't tell who you are anymore, you don't feel real. You look into the mirror and don't see a person you just see this image staring back at you. And everyday it feels like you're observing your body saying, doing, or feelings those things like they're not actually happening. Everytime you take a step you feel like a character being controlled by the player but you have that tiny voice saying you're more than that but of course you don't listen.

So a girl is in a room telling her therapist a dream she had of a girl and the therapist keeps on asking “who is she?” And is she a lost embrace and as the girl was talking the woman i her dreams possessed her and started speaking towards the end then the therapist gets scared and leaves before the girl could go back to her regular form again

It’s weird but that is the story that I got from this song
