I Was a Cub Scout was originally a one-man band, consisting solely of Todd Marriott. Lacking a drummer, Marriott used a drum machine to create the sound. William Bowerman joined the band in mid 2006, and has played drums until their split.
The band spent about six months playing house parties and night clubs in England, their exposure gaining them some popularity. They also maximized their exposure by touring extensively, playing in the 2007 Carling and Download Festivals, as well as embarking on a tour with DARTZ!.
On 6th June 2008, lead singer Todd Marriott announced their split via Myspace bulletin. He blamed "countless problems" and said it was "a very sad day".
In early March 2011, Todd announced that IWACS is back. With himself being the only member.

Echoing around the room?
It's loud and i can't really hear you
My stomach's itching, make me feel sick
And i really want to hear you
Oh, oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh,
And oh, oh-oh-oh, oh-oh, oh
And we were made to learn that we are not the best at it
So you keep trying and you keep doing what you do best
And we were made to learn that we are not the best at it
So what's that deafening sound
Echoing inside of my head?
And rolling over, something connects
And yes i can hear you
But your words and not that clear to me
And oh, oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh,
And oh, oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh
So you keep trying and you keep doing what you do best
And we were made to learn that we are not the best at it
So you keep trying and you keep doing what you do best
And we were made to learn that we are not the best at it
The lyrics of I Was A Cub Scout's song "Part II" present a sense of confusion and insecurity. The first stanza focuses on a loud and overbearing noise that distracts and disturbs the singer, making it difficult for them to focus on their surroundings. They also feel sick and uncomfortable, which adds to their sense of disorientation. The chorus suggests that despite their struggles, they should keep trying and doing their best, but also acknowledge that they may not be the best at it.
The second stanza takes a more introspective turn as the singer tries to make sense of the noise in their head. They can hear the people around them, but they can't quite understand them. This suggests that the singer is struggling with communication and understanding their social environment. Once again, the chorus reminds them to keep trying and doing their best, even if they feel inadequate.
Overall, the song portrays the frustration and confusion that can come with trying to navigate a social world that may feel overwhelming and incomprehensible at times. The repeated motif of doing one's best despite not being the best at it serves as an encouraging message for those who may feel like they're struggling.

Rest In Peace, T.J.
James' good 'ol camp buddy.
Okay, no, he didn't die but, it's still sad to think about TJ leaving and James being possibly an alone boy going through adolescence.
I didn't mean that too.. (๑•̀ㅂ•́)و✧

That was super hilarious! Fortunately, my troop usually doesn't have any inside pranks anymore, but here's a story that's been passed down. I believe this was over 10 years ago; I wasn't in the troop at the time and now I'm one of the oldest scouts, so nobody currently in my troop was there to see it firsthand. But the story goes something like this:
At the camp that my troop (and the troops nearby) went to at the time, there was apparently this one troop that either harassed mine or pissed them off in some way, so some of the more mischievous members of our troop decided to get revenge. Each camp apparently had their own water tank that distributed the water to the drinking fountains and washing stations. The water tank was apparently raised from the ground. So my troop's plan was this: set a fire underneath the other troop's water tank to boil the water inside, so when they turned on the faucet or drinking fountain, they would be met with scalding hot water.
So they set the fire underneath the tank, and I'm not sure if they stuck around to see what would happen, or if they went back to their camp, but the unthinkable happened: The water tank BURST. Of course, when you boil water, it turns into gas, which expands, and all of the heat energy inside the tank was building up pressure, and I guess nobody from the other troop ever used their water this whole time.
Thinking back at this, this story seems almost unbelievable. But if it was fake, I couldn't tell you how we got banned from that camp for nearly a decade. They actually invited us back last year, and despite being the troop that had a well-known reputation of not going to the nearby camp and instead adventuring off to as far as other states, we accepted their invitation and returned. There we learned from some alumni we were close with that our water tank story has been retold numerous times to the camp staff as well.
Then we ended up getting the "Best Troop" award at camp, which basically means nothing for most people, but to us it meant everything because I don't think we've received a Best Troop award since the water tank incident.

I was so worried when he threw the bag of water, and the sad music started to play. I thought he was going to say that the roof collapsed on them.
