Don't Give Up

Last night I dreamt of San Pedro
Just like I'd never gone, I knew the song
A young girl with eyes like the desert
It all seems like yesterday, not far away
Tropical the island breeze
This is where I long to be
La isla bonita
And when the samba played
The sun would set so high
Ring through my ears and sting my eyes
Your Spanish lullaby
I fell in love with San Pedro
Warm wind carried on the sea, he called to me
Te dijo te amo
I prayed that the days would last
They went so fast
Tropical the island breeze
All of nature wild and free
This is where I long to be
La isla bonita
And when the samba played
The sun would set so high
Ring through my ears and sting my eyes
Your Spanish lullaby
I want to be where the sun warms the sky
When it's time for siesta you can watch them go by
Beautiful faces, no cares in this world
Where a girl loves a boy, and a boy loves a girl
Last night I dreamt of San Pedro
It all seems like yesterday, not far away
Tropical the island breeze
All of nature wild and free
This is where I long to be
La isla bonita
And when the samba played
The sun would set so high
Ring through my ears and sting my eyes
Your Spanish lullaby
Tropical the island breeze
All of nature wild and free
This is where I long to be
La isla bonita
And when the samba played
The sun would set so high
Ring through my ears and sting my eyes
Your Spanish lullaby
La la la la la la la
Te dijo te amo
La la la la la la la
El dijo que te ama
The lyrics of "La Isla Bonita" by Madonna is about a dream where she reminisces about her time in San Pedro, which is a town on the island of Ambergris Caye in Belize. Madonna describes her dream where she is surrounded by tropical scenery, with the island breeze, nature, and the samba music that fills her ears, and the Spanish language that bathes her in its warmth. The song is a tribute to the romance, culture, and spirit of the region, and the lyrics capture the essence of the laidback tropical lifestyle.
The song's verses talk about a young girl with desert eyes and the warmth and beauty of the island where she fell in love with San Pedro. The song's chorus emphasizes her desire to be in the idyllic town, where the sun warms the skies and siesta time is enjoyed leisurely. She sings about San Pedro being the place where a girl loves a boy, and a boy loves a girl, and where they are free from any worries of the world. The song is a celebration of love, freedom, and the beauty of life.
Overall, "La Isla Bonita" by Madonna is a lovely song that conjures a vivid image of an island paradise where one can find love, tranquility, and the essence of a simple life.

I almost gave up. I came back from the Gulf War broken and hopeless. I turned to the drink and isolated myself. When things were at their worst my father came and brought me home and helped me in his gentle way, where army doctors and their pills couldn’t. He made me see that there was peace and goodness in the world. He passed seven years ago and I miss him every day. I’m still strong Da.
