Moyuba Oshun Shango and Yemaya
We hear laughter and we think of you
We walk on rhythm and we think of you
Feeling our union and we think of you
Receive your spirit and we think of you
Moyuba Oshun Shango and Yemaya
Let's remember with rhythm our loved ones that are gone
All the joy when we're singing that no spell can destroy
We hear laughter and we think of you
We walk on rhythm and we think of you
Feeling our union and we think of you
Receive your spirit and we think of you
Moyuba Echumingua y los orishas
Moyuba Oshun Shango and Yemaya
If we sing they may come guiding all of our steps
You live through us Baba we're singing for you
We hear laughter and we think of you
We walk on rhythm and we think of you
Feeling our union and we think of you
Receive your spirit and we think of you
The song "Think of You" by Ibeyi is a tribute to loved ones who have passed away. The song begins with the chant of "Moyuba Echumingua y los orishas, Moyuba Oshun Shango and Yemaya," which is a Yoruba salutation to the ancestors and a call to the orishas, who are the deities worshiped in the Afro-Cuban religion of Santeria. The repetition of the chant serves to create a spiritual and calming atmosphere for listeners, and it sets the tone for the rest of the song.
The chorus of the song is where the title "Think of You" is repeated, and it refers to the memories of loved ones who have passed away. The verses make reference to the importance of rhythm and music in the lives of people and how it can help us to connect to those who are no longer with us. The line "Let's remember with rhythm our loved ones that are gone" encourages people to use music to remember those who have passed away.
The bridge of the song is where the connection to the ancestors is most prominent. The lyrics "If we sing they may come guiding all of our steps, You live through us Baba we're singing for you" are a nod to the belief in Santeria that ancestors can guide and protect us. Overall, the song is a touching tribute to loved ones who have passed away and serves to remind us of their memory through music and the connection to the spirit world.
