Motherfucker
Idiot Flesh Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Hillside building, falling grass
Forest filling, velvet pass
Steplike structure, view commanding
Flatland feeding, homeland breeding

Can we see the years fast ticking
Bringing us what will be past?
Should I not say of my own land
"I will never build a house"?

Human rabbits feeding, breeding, leading, needing normal lives
Bringing, banging, clanging, breathing smoke and soot, the man arrives!

Some are thinkers with ideals.
Some are running around waving their arms in the air
With no idea what they are trying to accomplish here

Electric growing, telecom going deeper and deeper into space
One day coming, all have plumbing, save us from this frantic pace!

Fearful feeling not withstanding
Hillside dream I not abandon
Still I stir this troubled question

Shall I wear my last clean sox?
Shall I put them in a box?
Should I wear them out?
Should I have another stout?

When I think I'm only spinning wheels
In hopes of slowly pinning down in mind a firm conclusion
How the fuck to live my life…
Motherfucker

Overall Meaning

The opening lyrics of Idiot Flesh's song "Motherfucker" describe a scenic landscape of a hillside building, a forest, and a flatland feeding homeland breeding. The picturesque scenes are contrasted with the fast ticking of years, prompting the singer to question whether they should build a house or not. The line "Human rabbits feeding, breeding, leading, needing normal lives" suggests a commentary on society's focus on reproduction and maintaining a structured lifestyle.

The second verse highlights the divided nature of society with thinkers who have ideals and those who are aimlessly waving their arms without purpose. The mention of electric growing and telecom going deeper into space sets a futuristic tone, while the line "save us from this frantic pace" suggests a desire for a slower, simpler way of life.

The final stanza showcases the singer's existential crisis as they ponder whether to wear their last clean socks or have another drink. The repetition of "should I" questions in the lyrics emphasize the uncertainty and confusion the singer is experiencing. The final line, "How the fuck to live my life...Motherfucker" encapsulates the exasperation and frustration over finding meaning and purpose in life.

The passing of time is relentless and inevitable, and it is up to us to appreciate our limited time on Earth and use it wisely.

Bringing us what will be past?
As time moves ever forward, the present moment quickly becomes the past- and it's up to us to decide what to do with the memories and experiences we accumulate along the way.

Should I not say of my own land
As inhabitants of a particular place, we may feel a sense of duty or loyalty to protect it, even in the face of possible destruction or decay.

"I will never build a house"?
In some cases, trying to preserve an unchanging way of life may be the wrong approach, as it neglects the importance of growth and progress.

Human rabbits feeding, breeding, leading, needing normal lives
Despite our best efforts at rational planning and organization, humans are driven primarily by primal instincts such as hunger, reproduction, and the desire for safety and security.

Bringing, banging, clanging, breathing smoke and soot, the man arrives!
Industrialization and progress may bring about great technological advancements and improvements in quality of life, but they also come with the negative side effects of pollution, noise, and environmental damage.

Some are thinkers with ideals.
While many people may be primarily focused on their personal needs and wants, there are also those who seek to create positive change in society through their ideas and actions.

Some are running around waving their arms in the air
However, not all of these ideas are practical or well-considered- some may be misguided or ineffective, motivated more by a desire for attention than a genuine desire to make a difference.

With no idea what they are trying to accomplish here
Without clear goals or a well-defined purpose, such individuals may end up spinning their wheels and wasting their time and energy on fruitless pursuits.

Electric growing, telecom going deeper and deeper into space

One day coming, all have plumbing, save us from this frantic pace!
In the midst of all this progress and activity, it's important to remember the simple pleasures of life, such as having access to basic necessities like clean water and sanitation.

Still I stir this troubled question
Despite our best efforts, life is full of uncertainties and unanswered questions, which can leave us feeling anxious or uncertain about our place in the world.

Shall I wear my last clean sox?
In the grand scheme of things, small decisions like what kind of socks to wear may seem insignificant- but they can nevertheless have a big impact on our daily lives and contribute to our overall sense of well-being.

Shall I put them in a box?
Organizing and planning our possessions can be a useful way to reduce clutter and increase efficiency- but it can also be a hindrance if we become too obsessed with material possessions and lose sight of what's truly important in life.

Should I wear them out?
Knowing when to let go of old habits or possessions can be difficult, but it's often necessary in order to make room for new experiences and memories.

Should I have another stout?
Indulging in small pleasures such as a delicious beer or snack can be a great way to enjoy the moment and reduce stress- but it's important not to let such indulgences spiral out of control and become destructive behaviors.

When I think I'm only spinning wheels
Progress and growth are not always linear or straightforward- sometimes it feels like we're just going around in circles and not getting anywhere.

In hopes of slowly pinning down in mind a firm conclusion
Nevertheless, by persevering and continuing to explore our thoughts and emotions, we can gain a deeper understanding of ourselves and the world around us.

How the fuck to live my life…
Despite our best efforts, there are no easy answers or formulas for how to live a good life- it's something we must all discover on our own through trial and error, introspection, and experience.

Motherfucker
Sometimes we need to let out a good swear word or two in order to release our frustration and regain our composure- it can be a cathartic and empowering experience.

I've never heard before!! But I am definitely picking up some Frank Zappa influence! Along with Disturbed in how the lyrics are quickened towards the end! Even a bit of Dr. Seuss in how parts were written!! LOL!! I Enjoyed This & Will Be Looking For More!!

@Horokoth

Probably my favorite from the entire CD, there's an almost cartoonish humor in the section where its as if the radio is bugging out.
