2.) Post-Punk band from Minneapolis. See also The Idle Hands.
3) Descendents and Wipers influenced punk from Münster, Germany.
4) Idle Hands (1999-2002) was a pop punk group from California. They were signed to Trustkill Records, known more for hardcore punk and metalcore.
5) A Blues/Stoner Rock band from Sheffield, UK
2) With the song title “The 80’s Killed Your Boyfriend” and the upbeat sing-song-y tunes “Loaded” and “Sunshine on the Tenements,” The Idle Hands unashamedly link their sound and style to the post-punk movement of two and a half decades ago. Other, more story-telling, indie-pop songs, “Space Thing” and “Damage Control,” let loose a more empathetic, rock sound. Often rooted in standard danceable punk beats, their sound is carried on by driving electric guitar with intermittent picking, the occasional synth and keyboard lines. Ciaran Daily’s voice sometimes beautifully counteracts the hazy music with well-voiced falsetto melodies, though he more often sticks with his bashful young punk voice.
The Idle Hand’s music escapes the often-obnoxious, overdone grimy punk sound while retaining much of its energy. Their lyrics, however, remain stuck in their punk roots. Singing cliche lines about drinking, girls, and friends, The Idle Hands have some regrettable moments, such as the whiny and overdone line ‘I’ve Lost You Now’ repeated far too many times at the climax of the track “Secretary.” While their sound could be likened to mature, mellowed out punk, their lyrics have miles to go to match the maturity of their sound. A little less of ‘baby,’ ‘darling,’ and ‘just remember where your heart is,’ never hurts anyone.
4) The band was a four piece outfit led by Meaghan Ball on vocals, and rounded out with Chris Mohney (Drums), Dan Previch (Bass) and Joe Robb (Guitar). Ball was known for her earlier work in the emo band Copper, while the rest of the band formerly played in the hardcore band Suburban Empire. Recordings include the 1999 EP "Treaty" and the 2000 full-length "Building a Desert".

Idle Hands Lyrics

"This is the sickest day I've ever had
It's the best day in a long time"
"Here, hold my hand", she said
"Besides, it's what friends do, it's-
It's not like I love you"
Take me out tonight on another adventure
Take me out tonight
Don't you ever get sick of it?
All the time we've wasted out together
"This next beer", she said,
"I dedicate to all the beers that I have dranken"
"Do you want to kiss?" she said
"You can do what you want to, it's-It's not like you have to"
Take me out tonight on another adventure
All the world disappears behind us in the night
Take me out tonight
Don't you ever get sick of it?
All the time we've wasted out together
I will hang out with you every single night until the day that I die
I will try
Cross my heart ans hope to die
Go!
The song "Puppy Love" by Idle Hands talks about a platonic relationship between two friends who obviously have deep feelings for each other. The opening lines show the excitement of a day spent together. This excitement is portrayed with the use of expletives, intensifying the emotion that the day has been extraordinary. The next few lines highlight the intimacy between the two friends as the female friend asks the male friend to hold her hand. She also adds that it is what friends do, trying to downplay the intimacy of the gesture. She then clarifies that she doesn't love him, as if trying to protect him or herself from the possibility of a romantic relationship.
As the song progresses, the male friend asks the female friend to go on another adventure with him, highlighting the fact that they have already been on many such adventures. The line "All the world disappears behind us in the night" is a reference to the escapism that the two friends enjoy when they’re alone. They continue to waste time together, but the singer questions whether his friend gets sick of the monotony of their routine.
The female friend dedicates the next beer they drink to all the beers she has ever drunk, as a way of showing the insignificance of their actions in the grand scheme of things. She asks the male friend if he wants to kiss her, but then quickly adds that he doesn't have to, indicating the complexity of the dynamic between the two friends. The song ends with the male friend asserting his commitment to being with the female friend every night of his life till he dies.
