Ramblin' on my mind
Ike Turner & Jackie Brenston Lyrics

I think that you don´t care,
And it´s more than I can bear,
I don´t know baby,
Maybe it´s all in my mind, all in my mind.

I know that I´ve been true,
But honey sweetie baby what about you?
I don´t know baby,
Maybe it´s all in my mind.
We´ve been going steady so long,
I´d never dream you would ever do me wrong,
I knew I was yours and I thought you were mine,
And that every little thing was so fine.

Whoa darling, I´d hate to see,
Someone else with you other than me,
I don´t know baby,
Maybe it´s all in my mind, all in my mind
Oh yes, it´s all in my mind.

You may have heard of jalopies
You've heard the noise they make
But let me introduce you to my Rocket '88
Yes it's great, just won't wait
Everybody likes my Rocket '88
Baby we'll ride in style
Movin' all along

V-8 motor and this modern design
Black convertible top and the gals don't mind
Sportin' with me, ridin' all around town for joy
Blow your horn, Raymond blow your horn

Step in my Rocket and don't be late
Baby we're pullin' out about a half-past-eight
Goin' on the corner and havin' some fun
Everybody in my car is going to take a little nip
Ooh, goin' out
Oozin' and cruisin' along

Whatever one might think of Ike Turner as a human being, you Can't overstate the influence he had on rock and blues.

Mike Reiss

@John Downs Oh well, if Keith Richards said it it must be true. Lol.

Mike Reiss

@GimmeSome Truth Today their place is anywhere they want to be just like anyone else. Women are human just like you are (I'm guessing).

Just reading this now, years later, but you have indeed stated it as well as it can be stated... Long live all of it, hopefully...

You also have the controversy of Ike saying he wrote Rocket 88 whereas Jackie Brenston said that it's a cover of Cadillac Boogie with the band substituting Oldsmobile lyrics ... https://youtu.be/ys7ag-AzQhc

Not only is this considered the first Rock and Roll song, The success of this song funded Sam Philips to create Sun Records. Ike Turner was a pioneer in music and he was only 19 when he wrote this song.

George Martinezza

no matters.
Cher and Ruanzinho, Rocio Durcal or Chubby Checker. please: shut up, no Pantone K should be allowed here.

Rocket 88 is an appropriation of Jimmy Liggins' Cadillac Boogie from a few years earlier. Jackie Brenston mentioned how the band worked on changing the lyrics from Caddy to Olds on the drive to the recording session.

Doug Dickason

@Martha Callaway it was recorded in April of 1947, but no biggie, it was way before rocket 88. Hank also wiggled around a little bit too, not as much as Elvis, but if you watch him, he had that same jiggly leg some times.
