Addio
Il Muro Del Canto Lyrics

Hai preso la patente e sei partita
Non me interessa manco a ndo sei stata
L'indifferenza è l'arma più affilata.
M'hai detto addio e devi sparì
Addio, addio, addio.
Nun hai girato er monno e sei ingrassata
Ma bella come sei c'avrai la coda
De spasimanti belli ricchi e in voga.
M'hai detto addio e devi sparì
Addio, addio, addio.
Ma vattene lontana via da Roma
Corri, daje, che la scusa è bona
‘sto core è grasso d'odio e nun perdona
Nun famo che domani ‘na campana sona.
M'hai detto addio e devi sparì
Addio, per Dio, addio.
The lyrics to Il Muro Del Canto's song "Addio" speak of a woman who has left the singer and taken on a new life. She has gotten her license and left, and it's as if she has fallen off the face of the earth. The singer claims to be indifferent to her whereabouts, suggesting that that indifference is a sharp weapon. When she left she said goodbye and has to disappear, and the singer is left with bitterness in his heart.
The second verse finds the singer acknowledging that the woman likely grew tired of him, but that she has not found what she's looking for. Perhaps she's found fame or wealth, but the singer doubts she's found true happiness. He suggests that she will always have a line of admirers eager to be with her. Again, she said goodbye and must disappear.
In the final verse, the singer tells the woman to go far away from Rome, with the excuse that she needs to. He claims to have a thick hate in his heart that will never forgive her, and warns her that a bell will toll for her tomorrow. The song ends with a final "goodbye" to the woman.
