The Band was founded in 2004 as the successor of the black metal band S.C.A.R.D., which was active from 1999 to 2003. llidiance released an album and an EP, before switching to a more electronically influenced sound with their 2009 EP Synthetic Breed when they abandoned the black metal motives and oriented to the cyber metal genre. The following year the band continued even further in this direction while incorporating lyrical themes such as transhumanism, artificial intelligence and armageddon in their 2010 album Damage Theory.
Recently the band had stepped away from the cyber metal genre and is now describing their music as just modern alternative metal while experimenting with new lyrical themes.
The band released their 4th studio album The Iconoclast on May 19, 2019 after over 8 years from their previous studio album Damage Theory.

The lyrics to Illidiance's "Defying Gravity" speak of being broken down and on the verge of despair, but refusing to give up. The subject of the song must rise from their pain and face their fears. Although weighed down by defeats, they no longer fear them. They take the road less traveled, through the shards of shattered dreams, with only the light of their dreams to guide them. They are reborn from the ashes like a star, defying their fate. They cannot turn back, never retreating from their dreams, and they are challenging their destiny.
The lyrics also speak of the wounds caused by doubt, but that these wounds only ignite a fire in one's heart. The subject's jump towards the stars will bring the world to their feet. In this war, a victory that is taken without a battle will bring no happiness - true happiness is only found through pain. The journey will be filled with destructions, but in flying through them all, one's life will have meaning.
The song ultimately speaks to the human spirit - to persevere and follow one's dreams, even in the face of great adversity. To face one's fears and embrace pain as a necessary part of the journey.

Потрясающая песня. Да и вообще весь альбом, причем русские версии песен звучат даже лучше английских. А песня Afterglow настолько шикарна, что аж разрывает душу.

Ребят, огромное вам спасибо за то, что вы есть! Эта песня (а точнее, русская версия) вновь вернула меня к жизни! Честно, подобного чувства не испытывал очень давно, ибо жизнь в депрессии это полный п*здец! Помногу искал подобную группу, песни, и вот, благодаря вк рекоммендациям, наконец-то нашёл. Я сам творческий человек и прекрасно знаю, какого это, быть на дне, когда тебя уже ничто не радует, не даёт сил, надежд, хорошенького пинка под зад, как даёт это музло.
