Dante Spinetta comes from a musical family, his father being the legendary Argentinean rock musician Luis Alberto Spinetta.
The group was formed in 1991. Later, in 2001 Dante and Emmanuel split to pursue solo careers. The band has recently announced they were coming back for a couple of shows 2011, and there are rumours that a new album is also coming up.

Illya Kuryaki And The Valderramas Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Los bambis te miran
Pero son de cemento
Te entretuvo
Un retrato antiguo
Te diste vuelta
Y viste un pozo encendido
Por el lago de goma
Fuiste besado
In this song, Illya Kuryaki and The Valderramas describe a journey that the singer takes through different places and experiences. The lyrics are filled with vivid images that create a dream-like and surreal atmosphere. The first verse talks about the singer getting tangled in a dry tree, and being watched by concrete deer. He is entertained by an ancient portrait, but then turns around and sees a fiery pit. The second verse talks about the singer swimming in a rubber lake and being kissed by comatose mermaids. He then arrives at the shore of a black desert and screams while hanging in the fire. The chorus suggests that despite all these strange and unsettling experiences, there is still a chance that the river will flow today.
