1) Ilya are a duo from Bristol, England. The band consists of Joanna Swan and Nick Pullin.
The band released their debut album They Died For Beauty in 2004, receiving a massive critical acclaim. It was followed by Somerset in 2006, after the departure from major company Virgin Records. The pair has been self-producing most of their music ever since then, in their home studio near Bristol.
Ilya have often been compared to Zero 7 and other post-2000 downtempo acts, whilst also being considered as continuing the trip-hop tradition, originated in Bristol in the 1990s.[citation needed] If their first album probably fitted better in the Zero 7-esque downtempo category, their second one was an attempt to a more organic and rowdier sound. A musical direction that was to be followed since then, each album being somewhat more radical and bare than the previous.

I'm still here
Press your face to mine
Pretty baby
Pretty baby
Pretty baby
Pretty baby
Each time that you are gone
I wonder why
Crying girls so white against the sky
What use is love
When loving starts to die
So am I
Pretty baby
Pretty baby
Pretty baby
I see you,
Evaporating too
No feeling I have known
Pretty baby
Pretty baby
Pretty baby
Pretty baby
Each time that you are gone,
I wonder why
Crying girls have nowhere left to fly
What use is love
When loving starts to die
So am I
Pretty baby
Pretty baby
Pretty baby
Each time that you are gone
I wonder why
Crying girls have nowhere left to fly
What use is love
When loving starts to die
So am I
Pretty baby
Pretty baby
Pretty baby
Turn around
I'm still here
I'm still here
Still here
Turn around
Turn around
I'm still here
Pretty baby
Pretty baby
I'm still here
Pretty baby
Pretty baby
Pretty baby
The lyrics to Ilya's song "Pretty Baby" express the feelings of uncertainty and loneliness that come with loving someone deeply. The song begins with the singer watching their loved one leave, wondering why they have to be apart. The repetition of "pretty baby" throughout the song emphasizes the singer's affection for their loved one, while the melancholic tone of the lyrics implies that their love may not be reciprocated.
As the song continues, the singer reflects on the transience of love and how it can quickly turn into heartbreak. They observe "crying girls so white against the sky" and wonder "what use is love when loving starts to die?" These lines suggest that the singer has experienced the pain of lost love before, and they fear that their current relationship may follow the same path.
The final lines of the song are ambiguous, leaving the listener unsure about whether the singer and their loved one will reconcile or remain apart. The repetition of "I'm still here" and "pretty baby" suggests that the singer's affection has not diminished, but they are resigned to the possibility that they may never be together again.
