Warriors
Imagine Dragons Feat. Riot Games Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

As a child, you would wait and watch from far away
But you always knew that you'd be the one
That work while they all play

In youth, you'd lay awake at night and scheme
Of all the things that you would change
But it was just a dream
Here we are, don't turn away now (don't turn away)
We are the warriors that built this town
Here we are, don't turn away now (don't turn away)
We are the warriors that built this town
From dust

Will come
When you will have to rise
Above the best and prove yourself
Your spirit never dies

Farewell, I've gone to take my throne above
But don't weep for me
'Cause this will be the labor of my love

Here we are, don't turn away now (don't turn away)
We are the warriors that built this town
Here we are, don't turn away now (don't turn away)
We are the warriors that built this town
From dust

Here we are, don't turn away now (don't turn away)
We are the warriors that built this town
Here we are, don't turn away now (don't turn away)

We are the warriors that built this town
From dust

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Imagine Dragons Feat. Riot Games’ song Warriors describe the journey of a person from childhood to greatness. The first verse talks about a time when the person was a child, observing from afar and knowing that they would one day be the one to put in the hard work while others played. The second verse describes a time in the person’s youth, where they would stay up at night dreaming of changing the world, but realizing that it was just a dream. The chorus speaks to the present, where the person has risen to greatness and is a warrior who has helped build their town from the dust. The final verse tells of the person’s departure to a higher place, but reassuring those left behind to not weep because the work they have done was the labor of their love.

The song Warriors was created by the band Imagine Dragons in collaboration with the video game company Riot Games for the 2014 League of Legends World Championship. Here are some interesting facts about the song:

You know, after all this time I still come back to this every now and again. It's still imo the best World's video Riot has made, and I don't just mean in terms of the song. This one captures the spirit of competition like no other. The others are about pros competing against each other, this one feels more relatable, it's a bunch of average joes that go from amateur to pro. The story in this MV is just unparred, it captures the struggle, the up and downs of competing. It's honestly such a moving and inspiring MV.

Same... Chills every time.

@deniss6654

I completely agree. Riots focused too much on eSports players instead of highlighting regular players.
