Formed by Claes Strängberg and his brother Per in 2004, Immanu El was joined by Michael Persson and Emil Karlsson soonafter where they began to work on their first release.
The band name, Immanu El, is a play on words (of sorts) on the Hebrew Bible's prophecy of Immanuel, the prophesied Messiah, and the Semetic word for God, El (deity), and "with us" (Immanu). The band's name takes on even deeper meaning in light of the Judeo-Christian philosophies of Jesus being simultaneously the Jewish Messiah and God in one.
After touring, supporting such bands as Logh and Loney, Dear they got the chance in 2005 to play a set on the 'Rookie Stage' in the Hultsfred Festival; an opportunity for unsigned bands to perform at a major event.
They released their first EP titled Killerwhale, before being signed to And the Sound Records in 2006. The following year, Immanu El recorded and released their first full-length album They'll Come, They Come. Building on the success of their first album they released their second album Moen in 2009, followed by In Passage in 2011.
Comforting Dawn
Immanu El Lyrics

you lie awake
facing light
with sleepless eyes
Morninghours are pale
in cold blood
you count your friends
No one
share your tears
while your world
trembles
you
lost your ways
all you've had
and all you've fought for
In your loss
your mind breaks loose
Those who thirst
will find waters
and the
broken hearts
will be carried through
solitude
Dry your tears
while your world
trembles
you'll
find your way
all your weights
are carried for you
Carried through
solitude
dry your tears
while your world
trembles
you'll
find your way
all your weights
are carried for you
The lyrics of Immanu El's song "Comforting Dawn" paint a picture of someone who is going through a difficult time. The lyrics suggest that the person is lying awake at night, unable to sleep due to the weight of their worries. As morning comes, they are faced with the reality of their situation, and they feel isolated and alone.
The lyrics use powerful imagery to convey the person's sense of loss and despair. In particular, the line "you count your friends" suggests that the person has lost the support of those around them, and is now forced to face their troubles alone. However, despite the bleakness of the situation, the song also carries a message of hope. The lines "those who thirst will find waters" and "broken hearts will be carried through solitude" suggest that even in the darkest of times, there is still the possibility of finding strength and comfort.
Overall, "Comforting Dawn" is a poignant and thought-provoking song that deals with themes of loss, loneliness, and hope.
